This Year's Stats: 45
Last Year's Stats: 25
Two Season's Ago: 10

I believe they are working fine in the AI roster evaluation.

Perhaps others in the transactions dept will verify if they see this post. Either way, you'll find out in a little over a week.

Sounds good....But what I meant is that I don't think their is any way for the USER to modify the significance of talent. I agree with you- it's pretty good for the most part- it's just the odd example like this that I see that's a five star type player.....but it really kills the realism for me. What team would EVER release a twenty year old that it's scouts had identified as a bona fide 5 start potential (in OOTP terms)?.....Here's hoping things look better in OOTP9!

This has always been an issue with the series. The game never really knew how to value potential for players coming up. Some possible fixes would be:

1) Have a major league evaluation scale and a prospect evaluation scale. A guy in his late 20's is going to be evaluated much more on his statistics and performance. A guy in his late teens-early 20's is going to be evaluated much more on potential talent than on his ability to perform.

2) Re-do how the teams evaluate minor league talent. I've seen a lot of teams still keeping guys who are 23-24 in single A. Lets face it, after 5-6 years in minor league ball, if a guy is not in high level minors, he's probably expendable. Instead the game kicks out the worst player on the team (not the least likely to make it to the majors). You end up getting an 18 year old stud kicked off to keep a 24 year old career minor leaguer. This would require the game to take age and potential into effect much more.

As I said, this has been an issue for a long time in the series. It's one of the bigger problems too in my opinion. I know a lot of people love being able to setup global leagues in Kenya and El Salvador, but sometimes I wish there was more focus on the actual roster management. Too much into the belles and whistles, not enough into the material they are made of.

I agree- hopefully OOTP9 is better in this regard- and with roster management in general. It may not have the WOW factor of adding new stuff- but a more solid AI with proven results would go along way towards furthering this series IMHO than adding sound or graphics.
