Double switch ??

I havenīt played OOTP8 too much,
since I wait for OOTP9.
Even less the older version BUT I must ask something I havenīt seen much

The Double switch made by the AI.... Is this in everyones opinion made as often as it should be (well ought to be)

Coming from Baseball Mogul that was almost ZERO occasions. The AI wasnīt smart enough to know what the best switch was, and never made any double switches what I noticed.

Experience players of OOTP over the year must have noticed this.
Is it a normal part playing the National League to see the AI make the double switch, and if not of course ....

Markus will the OOTP9 be better as the AI getting smarter ????????????

Now that you ask, I don't remember any time I've seen the computer teams do a double switch. It may happen, but I don't remember seeing it.

The AI does double switches frequently if the situation makes sense

The AI does do double switches in v2007 which is basically the same game
as v8. I play out all of my games in the National League and see them but it's one of those things where it's hard to say if it is a realistic amount. To do that one would have to do some research, perhaps baseballreference dot com would have info, to get the real numbers. I know many times over the past someone has posted how ootp's numbers are way off compared to real life only to find that they are wrong when Markus or another forum member posts real life numbers from their research.

I can't say I've taken the time to look over the AI team to see if it did a good job or not but it does get the pitcher far down in next innings batting order while using a position appropriate sub.

Short, sweet, and to the point while I was writing my post

Thanks Marcus
Now I am calm.

I just looked over many games by the National and since I couldnīt find any Double switches I had to ask.

Thanks a million.

Well, I'm playing version 8 and I see them A LOT. I play out all of my games and don't have a DH (dratted DH ruins baseball ), and the computer makes double switches frequently when the pitcher is changed in the field. Does a reasonable good job of it if you ask me.

Sometimes I wonder if the AI uses too many of its relievers too early and is left with no options at the end, but I've learned that's more of a strategy setting vs year played conflict than a real AI problem, though it would be great if the AI could adapt to that as well.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that looking over boxscores it might be difficult to tell if it was a double switch or not. Not always obvious via the boxscore.

Just one caution. Make sure that you clear the position to a "-" before you drag a pitcher into the players slot. It shows up in the fielding record as a pitcher playing the field. This really bugs me. I forgot a few times and now I got pitchers with fielding records for positions they did not play.

When dragging a position player to the pitcher slot it automatically displays as a PH. Why can't the pitchers slot be "-" automatically....
