What's your largest baseball universe
In OOTP8, mine is 62 leagues, 733 teams. Won't need as many feeder leagues in OOTP9 due to multinational play so I'm hoping to cut that back. Best I could do was 1871-1920 before the league file got too big.

I get frustrated by the slow speed when the universe gets too large. The largest I've ever done is one league with 90 teams. That had 3 minor league levels (360 total teams).

I feel like such a slouch -- 37 leagues, 573 teams (with, weirdly, 589 stadiums -- I wonder how I did that). Haven't really noticed any performance issues, though. Then again, I'm only 5 seasons. Plus, this is the only universe I've ever played, so I've got nothing to compare it to.
It does make figuring out when to upgrade trickier. I guess Jan 1 is still the magic date, but there will be leagues playing then. I'd have to look through the scheduler in detail, but I'm not sure there even is a date when everybody's in the off-season. Maybe Nov 1, but there's probably some Southern Hempisphere feeder league or somethng that's got its season then. Last edited by GEP; 06-16-2008 at 07:45 AM. |

How have you got an odd number of teams? The game usually balks at odd number of teams in a league.

I made a league with 256 teams to create a 128 team playoff. But that was just a test, and I only simmed one season. Which took a long time, since it was on my crappy computer.

In what way does it balk RSF? I ask because one of the leagues that I'm planning will start with 7 teams in it - I haven't noticed any particular problems running short test leagues in v8.

I'll check this out again but if you start a league with a subleague with 7 teams in it, the game will say that you can't have a subleague with an odd number of teams in it.

At the intital screen you are correct. The work around is to create it with 8 teams, then once you start the game delete team 8. The game has no issue scheduling or anything with an odd number of teams so I don't know why we get that error at initial game creation.

Oh, thats ok then, I thought you meant there were some issues database-wise. It is certainly possible to do it, starting with an even number at league creation and the either adding or deleting a team.

Lol. I started with about 12 teams in one league and then did a expansion draft every few years. I'm up to 30 teams in one league (and three minor league affiliates). I don't do international leagues.
