I can say with no doubt that hot and cold streaks are not programmed. I have some streaky players, some have long streaks in both directions, some are shorter, and I also have some very consistent players, my leadoff hitter being the most steady. I have some players that play very well after not starting for a few weeks, but they are only good as starters for a week or so before they start to fade again. These are things you notice when you play out games over the course of a few seasons. I have also seen such minute things as a certain player on my team being an excellent pinch-hitter, but only in two certain situations. Outside of those two he is pretty useless.

I have seven seasons under the belt and I have come to know the trends of my players, the ones who have been on the team for a while obviously. However, even knowing the trends, they don't happen at the same time every season, but I have come to know when the streak or whatever is beginning. My players end off looking good by season's end because I have learned what each is best at and I avoid using them in their weakest areas when possible. I try to put them into situations where they can succeed.

This is a lot of the fun to me with this game. My best friend teases me all the time about me talking about my players as if they are real people, but hey, to me they seem like they are.

Again, this is a reason I love the game. I never felt that way about my players in any other game.

Cool addition but I don't like the sound of "Hero of the day." How about Standout Player #1, #2, etc or Standout Performance or Top Performer, etc

I shouldn't quibble, but I have to agree, "Hero of the Day" is not a typical baseball phrase. I would suggest "Today's Standout Players", #1, #2, etc.

I like "Newsmaker" myself; doesn't even have to be 'of the day'.

On ESPN.com it's "Top Performers...."

Hero of the Day might sound weird, especially if there's more than one.

"Top Performers" sounds good..."Newsmakers" isn't bad, either. Either way, "Hero of the Day" is not a baseball term and should be subbed out for something else. I really like the idea, though!

Well, maybe he'll provide a way for us to customize the terminology.

My suggestion (love the hot/cold) is to keep the highlight the same for the your team. Instead of having Red for your hot players and Blue for your cold players...just make it one color.

Or better yet...but a • or * or !@#$%^&* next to the players on your team. The colors and bold headlines

I don't know, red/blue seems a great idea to me.

As for hero of the day, it's not like it really matters, I think.

It's not a bad idea, it just confuses my little brain where the Hot/Cold Hitter/Pitcher breaks are.

I agree..."Hero of the Day" doesn't work too well. I don't put a guy that had a great day at the plate up there with Chuck Norris.

Shouldn't it be "Top Performances" or "Top Performers"?

These new screenies... the two late feature additions... Markus' increased web presence of late... I'm totally psyched for OOTP9. Pre-ordered last night. Thanks Markus... I think you've parked this one in McCovey Cove.

Thanks a lot for all the new features (i really can't wait to see the graphical animation) and for the updates. A question...what are the PC requirements for OOTP 9? (i'm expecially interested in the minimum requirements for my laptop (that was able to run ootp 8 well).
Thanks
