Jeez. I just got done reading through all that crap (I only skimmed it this afternoon). It makes me glad to be a confirmed OOTP bachelor (in the traditional sense).

I was 15 at the time and I remember thinking, "Wow, this guy is dumb".

He sent out the following e-mail to members of his league, posing as a friend of his using his e-mail:

Quote:
For anyone wondering why the fantasy baseball games were not simulated Tuesday, March 18, 2003, there is a legitimate reason. The Commissioner and I were driving down the highway in his Volvo. As we were traveling, some moron in an '89 Pinto swerved into our lane and swiped us right into the median. Not being too badly hurt, I looked at the car and it was in awful condition. Then I remembered about the Commissioner, and I ran to check on him. His last words to me were: "Shut down the Fantasy Baseball League"; he didn't care about anything else. I suffered minor cuts and bruises, but the Commissioner slipped into a coma. Before the ambulance got there, the Commissioner of this league was unconscious. Best of luck on the recovery of the Commissioner. Participants in the league, there is no more league. I am told the Commissioner will pull through within the week, but with a high and risky chance of amnesia. The odds of him remembering this are slim to none. Nonetheless, it was good while it lasted and no champion has been declared for this league. Maybe sooner more than later, the Commissioner will be back among his beloved money, expensive cars, and multiple lady friends.
Then he later denied it vehemently with the line "I was never in a car wash!" Or something to that effect.

And five years later, I still laugh hard at the last line of that e-mail.

The guy clearly missed his calling in life. He should have been selling used cars.

I'd like to see him sell an '89 Pinto, myself. That'd be a hell of a trick.

I guess this is where I ask, "Gee, NCBB, just when did they stop making them?"

In all honesty you should try the on-line league route. It opens up OOTP to a whole new area and the friendships made are a bonus. I have been in on;line leagues since 4 and think they are a big reason that I bought every version.

Every comish I have known has been above board and understood the duties that come with running a league. Dont let this make you think that the moron is the rule, because he is the exception many times over.

I remember reading this email but I completely forgot about it. I'm glad after all these years you still happen to have it! It's definitely a classic.

That line tops it off.
