I'm using the free version of 7.5 and it's not popped up anything for me.

It must be said though that the E-licence control panel doesn't work for me, but that doesn't matter.

I've been using AVG 8 for a while and this only happened to me today, so it must have been a recent update that caused the problem.

And this is why I don't run a background virus scanner. I just scan files I think may be dodgy individually.

AVG is a piece of junk. I used it for years and got tired of it's nonsense. Clamwin user now.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE AWFUL SUGGESTION LINKED IN THE FIRST POST!

Adding the entire Windows directory as an exception is, quite frankly, a bad idea.

Instead of doing that, just add the actual OOTP8.exe file as an exception and the game will work fine.

mikev, you have the right idea, but i believe it's the wrong file. the file that's causing issues is c:\windows\lcmmfu.cpl.

exclude that file if avg8 will allow it, not the entire windows directory. malware, trojans, etc, love to hide-out in the windows directory, so it's not the best idea to exclude the entire windows dir.

No, it's the right file. I had to fix this yesterday on my laptop - this must have just come out with a definition update from AVG or something.

In any event, OOTP8.exe must call on the lcmmfu.cpl file to make sure the license is there, and it's interpreted as a virus. Add the OOTP8.exe file to your exclusions and you're good to go.

Do you know how to do that, exactly? I couldn't figure out how to exclude individual files in AVG.
