Is there any reason why a license number would not be in the database even though I ordered about 9 hours ago?

A torrent is basically a system where you share select files on your computer (in a shared folder) and others can download those files using your bandwidth - as long as your torrent program is running. Likewise, you are using other people's bandwidth to download files from their shared folder. It's often the case that you are downloading portions of a file from many different computers. Allowing the file to be shared is called seeding. The more seeds (the more people who have the file you want in their shared folder) the faster you will download the file.

BitTorrent is a file distribution protocol that was pretty much *designed* for cases like this: a large number of people all wanting the same data at once. It's not specifically for piracy, although to be fair that is what the bulk of its use is. There are plenty of legitimate uses, too, though, and a number of software companies have started delivering downloads via bit torrent.

A "seed" is a user that has a complete copy of the file, and can send all the pieces out. A torrent is pretty much useless without at least one seed. Users that don't have a full copy are known as "leechers". The way it works is that there is a central computer (the "tracker") which keeps track of who has what parts of the file. When the torrent first starts, only the seed(s) have any pieces, so all the leeches talk to it to get a piece. Once they have a portion, anyone *else* who needs that piece can talk to them instead of talking to the seed. Basically, it's an expanding network of "I need this part." "Ok, Joe over there has it, go get it from him and then share it with everyone else", which means as long as the original seeds are fast, you can *theoretically* share a file of any size in about the time it takes to upload it just once.

It falls apart dramatically in other cases, but you didn't ask about that.

I was discouraged this afternoon, since I was unable to get a conection on the server. After the supper I've decided to check if the board was back to see if I was the only unlucky ones. What a surprise when I've seen that 5 mirrors were add. Try the last one and it takes me less than 5 minutes to download the game. If I would have check sooner...

I wasn't that interested in sound or the ball animation, but I have to admit sound does add to the in game experience. And the ball animation, as simple as it is, is surprising pretty cool too.

I got it very fast on one of the mac mirrors -The problem now is that I don't have an elicensce even though I preordered where would I find it?

Should they have emailed it?

Did I miss it somewhere?

Mirror 4 worked great. Had the game D/L in about 10 minutes. License worked perfect, and I am already playing. Great stuff.

Thanks to everyone who helped get the mirrors going (especially for Mac!) I was on pace for a 15 hour download on the original link, but am on pace for 45 minutes on one of the mirrors. Much appreciated.

I downloaded right after the first mirror site was offered. Although I have super fast cable bandwidth, the mirror was pretty slow but the file downloaded. I setup the game, put in my code and the game was ready to go. Thanks Markus for all your effort to get this sensational product to market.

You should have received an email, but sometimes it is filtered. You could have (should) print the confirmation you are given at he time of purchase -- your number is usually the same as the order ID (vt-123456789) .....

That all said - email or call Via Tech for the elicense - they will want the email address used with the order and the credit card number ... they then will send you the info you need (you will have 2 licenses to use)

Same thing happened to me, I ordered it on May 2nd and is charged to my card but never got a conformation email sent to me. I got 3 emails from OOTP, but none were conformation.
