I checked the news story again and it is correct. The original errors have been fixed in the Text Database. Apparently the Text file was not updated for the 9.1.2 release. That's the only way it could happen as far as I know. I think you just have to wait until they release an updated Text file or a new patch or update, so that all of the corrections are included. Steve did this last year as I told him we had fixed the errors and had expanded some of the news stories, too. I have just begun proofing a test league in OOTP9's latest release. I will be able to tell if it wasn't updated recently enough. |

Posted by Potato Peeler:
The text said "The suspension of catcher Santo Cornaro did not sit well the the San Francisco Giants.", but the Giants are not in my league. There also seemed to be an extra " in the 4th paragraph. The text includes a quote from the plater saying "That's bull."" if that helps at all. I see you said this is fixed, Eugene, but I just saw it in 9.1.2. Is there a place where I can download the fixed XML file? Thanks. Reply from Eugene Church: Potato Peeler, I just ran across this story in the latest release and it is correct in my test league. So the Text file was updated. Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-20-2008 at 01:51 AM. |

Weird. I checked my XML file and it was incorrect in there. I think maybe I just moved over the OOTP9 executable when I upgraded. Can't quite remember what I did. Anyway, I'll unpack the 9.1.2 zip file and copy the XML file from there.
Thanks!

Yep, that was it. The XML file was old. Now I remember that when I upgraded, I just copied over the executable and the quick starts. Got the new XML copied over now. Thanks again for the help.

I see all of the categories except for "Summary". I'm guessing it might be Hard-Coded and only Markus can fix it. I'll see if tysok knows where this can be located to fix. Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-20-2008 at 08:02 PM. |

lol thanks potatoe...how the heck do you search through all those files? Manually, or is there a way to look up the IDs a lot quicker? I know someone had mentioned about going into debug mode, but i forget how. Would you mind explaining that bit to me?
Also, EC, i forgot to tell ya about the second one i posted. instead of using the word "but" the word "as" would better fit there. I'm sure you already figured that out tho! cheers! |

There's actually only one file... "english.xml". I just open it up in a text editor and do a search for the words or phrases I'm looking for. In the above instance, I just searched for "but I that seems" and it came right up.

oooohhh ok, yeah i dont have a text editor anymore. I had TextPad completely forgot about using it, but I got rid of it since it was a pirated copy (I'm not terribly big on pirating software anymore)
i did see someone post about using one somewhere else in this thread/forum or something like that. |

I'm sure there are plenty of decent free editors for Windows. I used to have a good one when I was using Windows but I switched to Mac over a year ago and now the name of the program has slipped my mind.

I did a google search and found one called EditPad Lite. Your just not allowed to get paid directly, or indirectly for whatever work you do with it. I'm not really into text editing or anything, so this should suffice to work for my own purposes for this game.
