1901 fictional league issues

Just messing around with a 1901 fictional league based on real major leagues and I am seeing some terrible stats for relievers. Rosters are set to 25 man but each team is carrying just 5 or 6 pitchers, meaning 1 reliever is acting as closer and pitching nearly every game. The result is each team has a reliever with 25-50 victories in the season and throwing around 150 innings.

Stats wise, every thing else looks pretty good, just 4 years into the league seeing relievers with well over 150 career victories is a little dissappointing.

I am using all the modifiers I normally would for a historical league, as I have done successfully to mirror deadball era with fictional players in previous versions. Is there something that should not be turned on from the league settings with the new game when using fictional players?

I agree. I too am playing in a 1901 fictional league (created as a historical league, all players deleted and new fictional players generated) and I see way too many relievers coming in in the 8th or 9th innings for saves.

I have settings at 4-man rotation, reliever/closer rarely, SP very high endurance , pinch-hit for pitcher rarely. Worked great in previous versions for deadball era, admittedly I've only played a few exhibition games with 2009 but had several CG's and one game where both starters went 10+.

Not sure if this helps but......

I believe those are the default settings for the deadball era, and yes it did work just fine in previous versions. The first time I have seen it is with OOTP9 when using fictional players.

Tiger Fan, I wasn't presuming to tell an old hand like you which settings to use It's just that I've started a new fictional deadball style league for the new version using all the information from my earlier versions.
With the settings I listed above it looks like all my teams carry 7 pitchers (4 SP, 2MR and a "closer") and having played out a few more games the results are looking pretty realistic but I'm concerned that once I start the league I don't start getting your bullpen W-L numbers.
Would be interested in your thoughts and if there's any more info I can give you please let me know.

I have restarted my league using Seviien's modified files for the stats.txt and era_modifiers.txt and the results are much more realistic. For a fictional league I would suggest you try this. I simmed out 15 seasons last night and am very happy with the stats.

Why does the game even create relievers in 1901? Shouldn't that be the issue?
