Eliminate Ball Flight - Figured Out
For those who want to eliminate the ball flight completely (where the ball graphic no longer shows on the field) here is a workaround...
Open any team's stadium editor. Next, go to the ball flight coordinates screen. Then, give all the x coordinates a ridiculously large number like 2000. That'll do it. No more ball graphic on the field at all, just like it was in previous versions of ootp. Next, you can 1) edit each parks ball locations by hand, or 2) click the 'action' button and then 'assign coordinates and ball locations to all parks.' If you go with the second option you'll most likely have to edit your player coordinates (easy as drag and drop) to match you parks. Also, remember to disable ball flight in the pre-game screen. Folks who use full screen with different screen resolutions, like I do, might be interested in this. I love the ball flight idea, but perhaps in the future a way will be added so that we can easily use the ball coordinates outside the default screen resolution. Maybe you are trying to do something else... but I don't see the point of this. Why don't you just turn ball flight off?
(I really don't know what you are trying to do here and am curious)

The ball still shows up on the screen at it's final location. It just doesn't show the path the ball takes to get to that location. |

For years, I have been looking at the PbP result and picturing in my mind where the ball went. I have realized now that I don't want anything to interfere with my mental picture, not even final ball placement which may not coincide with what I pictured. It's OK, I'm not knocking it. I think I will follow DreamTeams' suggestion, though. It's funny - I like the broadcast screen, but only for a reference to game situation and for player face/name familiarity. Once I hit the sim button, however, the action for me is in the PbP box, and in my mind. |

Fortunately, "999" also worked, saving by my count: 87 ball positions x 2 (y,x) = 174 digits entered than if you use "2000." Of course, nothing saves having to scroll down after each entry to where you left off because the scroll bar always returns to the top.
One consideration: The option is to "Assign Coordinates & Ball Locations to All Parks." That means player coordinates as well will be assigned, which may not be appropriate (fortunately, all my stadiums are exactly the same field size and orientation). I thought the options were specific to the screen, one for player coordinates and one for ball locations. It occurred to me that if I did not want to go through this (but I did), that I could have gotten away with just dragging all of the ball locations to the lower left or right corner, where the ball would show up in an unobtrusive place after the play was over, hardly to be noticed. |

Just my opinion. For those that like it, I'm glad it's there... otherwise I've no use for it.

Is there an .ini file or something similar to edit quickly instead of having to 999 and RETURN like 50 times here?

It sounds like a job for . . . redsoxford, a master of third party utilities! Just kidding, rsf. Ignore this post. That is, of course, if you don't care to take the challenge. Actually, it should be built in by the true master to be able to turn off ball markers completely. Not that I don't admire the ingenuity; all of those location coordinates are necessary to get around the problem of having variable ballpark pictures. Otherwise, we would have one stadium diagram and a standard set of ball locations. It's just not for me, that's all. |

I tip my ball cap for the idea of ball animation...but I enjoy the game as it "was." Any chance of turn off ball animation completely. Please advise...
