Scouting Budget in New League
Just finished creating a league. Before doing my Inaugural Draft, I thought I'd experiment and see if upping my scouting budget might have some positive impact. The budget was set for $2 mil, as it is for all the other teams in the league. When I changed the scouting budget to a higher figure, the game accepted the change and the new figure appeared. When I exited the screen and came back to it a moment later, the scouting budget was now set to $1,000,000 .... which is when I noticed the text saying that a negative balance means the scouting budget has to be less than half the league average. I'm now unable to get the scouting budget any higher before the draft. Does that mean I can expect my scouting reports in this first draft to be worse than usual? Tried turning scouting off and back on again, but the scouting budget came back at one million.
A question and a comment: Since my scouting budget is now lower, shouldn't that lower the overall league average and result in all the other teams having lower budgets too? Perhaps the game isn't checking the other teams scouting budgets when this new league is in it's earliest pre-draft stages, but if so why is it being persnikity and not allowing me to reset my initial scouting budget to be the same as the other clubs? It's as though I've somehow "activated" my club by trying to change the budget and am now being held to a higher standard than the AI teams. Not a bad idea in terms of handicapping the human player, but still .....
Would have been nice if the game had warned me that the higher figure I was inputting would actually lower the scouting budget rather than just accepting the number. Just as it would be nice if the game caught something like having a seven team league and allowing one to correct this before going through the whole league creation trip and finding out you have an illegal number of teams. I imagine I'll just start a new league once the first big patch comes out, so I'm not going to lose sleep over this. It's just a case where the game could be a little more helpful in warning the player of consequences.
