My two cents, for what they're worth

Have played this series since 2004, so I realize many would label me a neophyte.

Thoughts on this:

Yesterday (my first day of owning) it crashed more times in one afternoon than the combined OOTP games I have owned since 2004. I have swiftly learned to auto save each week (ponderous, but more efficient than starting over every few minutes). Also, I manually save each time I make a trade or invest time tweaking rosters.

The good is that the game, when functioning, seems to be faster and I like the improved look of it, also the sound and ball flight (although it sometimes does not do what the PBP says it does).

Many who read this are probably now wailing "This belongs in the Tech Support forum!" but frankly, the frequency and sheer randomness of the crashes make it impossible for me to divine any sense of cause-effect relationship between what the game was doing (or attempting to do) and the subsequent crashes.

Bottom line - if future patches correct the crashes, the upgrade is worth it. If not, it's hopeless.

Thanks for reading.

Have you been using the 2008 Major League Game when these crashes occur?

the MLB file seems to be a common thread in many of the crash issues. I would suggest trying a fictional to see if that works OK for you. Just sim a season or two. If it doesn't then other things could be at play. If it is just the MLB roster set causing the issues then it is likely those problems can be addressed by continued work on the rosters to be released with the next patch (or by Cubbyfan).

Thanks for responses. Yes, I have been using the "real life" roster included for MLB. I guess I missed threads about them - I assumed it wouldn't be an issue confined to one specific roster since the roster wasn't really an "add on" if it came with game.

This makes me feel better, though. I appreciate the effort to include a real-life roster set. I'll try a fictional start also.

I wonder if you play long enough with the MLB set and as fictional draftees are created and the real guys retire if the crashes will improve ...
