Ashantewarrier, do you have multiple hard drives or a partitioned hard drive?

Sorry for the late response (had to take wifey out to dinner and a movie )

I am using a partitioned HD

C: 360gig
D (Partitioned): 9.99gig

the partitioned gig is created by Vista as a repository for backup system files.

I just used whatever one started up with the game, not sure what it was called. I've never messed around with them. I can change to another; anything's worth a shot.

I am about to reinstall once again.

BTW I ran spybot, since someone suggested that. It found a few naughty cookies but no other problems and of course their removal had no effect on the game crashes. For all the bashing Norton receives, it has always done a good job of keeping my PC malware-free, at least as far as I know.

After all this I've taken a few days off and give in to the mindless MLB The Show on PS3

Norton does a really good job, but the problem is the resources it uses and crashes is causes in the process.

That's what I hear. The problem for me is I've always run Norton and, to my knowledge, it has only interfered with one game - Draft Day College Basketball. That includes all the OOTP versions since 2004, so I'm puzzled.

I swear I'm a pretty hopeless PC game fanatic and, aside from crap frame rates on FSX, I have had no issues with my system.

Does it? How many other virus programs have you tried? You would see just how "good" Norton is. The number of things Trend Micro found that Norton never did was pretty high. Who knows what other programs would have found. I find Norton to be near the bottom of the list.
