Exclamation OOTP 9 Patch 9.1.5 BETA available!

Hey guys,

we have just released the beta of the patch we're working on. It is very stable and should be tried by those suffering from application crashes. If you experience any problems with this patch, please post here in this thread!

We have fixed problems related to crashes, and about 30 more reported bugs. A complete list will follow.

Here are the files, which just include the executables of the game, so extract these to the folder where your OOTP9 application file is, for example "C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9\" on the PC or "/Applications/Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 9" on the MAC.

Here's the PC file: http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/beta/ootp9.zip
Here's the MAC file: http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/beta/OOTP9.app.zip

The patch is not a setup file. You need to unzip the patch file and copy the resulting ootp9.exe into the OOTP9 program directory, overwriting the existing file.

PC Executable-Only Installation Instructions

* Go to your OOTP program directory. By default it is C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9
* Rename the file "ootp9.exe" to "ootp9.exe.old".
* Download the executable file from one of the links above and unzip.
* Copy the unzipped file (ootp9.exe) into the OOTP program directory.
* Launch the game.

Mac Executable-Only Installation Instructions

* Go to your OOTP program directory. By default it is applications\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9
* Rename the file "ootp9" to "ootp9old".
* Download the Mac executable file from one of the links above and unzip.
* Copy the unzipped file (ootp9) into the OOTP program directory.
* Launch the game

We expect an official release of the patch at the end of this week, along with the demo

9.1.4 was only released to the beta testers. 9.1.5 is a public beta. Do not use it if you did not experience crash problems. Well or just use it but it's at your own risk

Patch would not install. Got a message that said the application failed to start because elicen40.dll was not found. Said that reinstalling the application may fix the problem. Is that necessary?

The patch is not a setup file. On a PC, you need to unzip the patch file and copy the resulting ootp9.exe into the OOTP9 program directory, overwriting the existing file.

PC Executable-Only Installation Instructions
  • Go to your OOTP program directory. By default it is C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9
  • Rename the file "ootp9.exe" to "ootp9.exe.old".
  • Download the executable file from one of the links above and unzip.
  • Copy the unzipped file (ootp9.exe) into the OOTP program directory.
  • Launch the game.

This version is crashing a lot more for me. In fact I haven't been able to save yet. It just keeps crashing. Very very frustrating. I think it corrupted my files because everytime I boot it up all the players are wrong and nobody has jerseys and if I click on my batters or pitchers it just crashes again. There goes my league again...some day I'll learn to back it up. Grr....

I have been able to isolate a few causes of crashes such as are being experienced by myselves and others.

Some files that are not sent in when OOTP requests a copy of your league can be cross-linked or truncated and cause game crashes in Windows.

Run chkdsk /f/v from the command prompt and see if it finds game log files, game box score files, photos and other bric-a-brac that has been erroneously linked with other files. It may ask you to reboot before the chkdsk runs.

That has fixed (as in that was the problem) 2 of the 3 gamers I have worked with and is definetely worth a try. In both cases those gamers were nearly out of hard drive space so that issue may be related somehow.

Neo, are you saying you're getting more crashes with 9.1.5?

If so, can you please give more explicit details about when it is crashing, what kind of league, etc?

Spritze, I don't understand what you mean by "when OOTP requests a copy of your league". Can you explain this more?

Gonna be honest - this version is CTDing more for me, too. Both during lineup alteration and when using templates. Maybe it was a corrupt template - I don't know. Its one I had created today...

I'll post back if it continues to CTD, and state when.

Well, the more information you can post about when it's CTDing, the better. What kind of game, when specifically did it crash, etc.!

I experienced a crash with 9.1.5 BETA. Playing One pitch mode, made 2 changes in the lineup just before starting the game.

When the game was over and you need to click on the last step to exit the final box score it crashed.

Wow, this OOTP9 is soooooooooooo unstable, unbelievable.

You spend all this time to play a game just to get it to crash.

I'm about to shelve the game and move on to other games.

Fictional league that has never advanced beyond the Inaugural Draft day (day of creation). The only consistent CTD I've experienced is loading the game. I had been getting the OOTP Must Close screen, even during the crash-flag screen.

After posting previously that this had not occured in 9.1.5, I have to report now it has started to happen. In the past, after repeated attempts, I could get the game to load. Now I can't get to the opening screen. This would have been, roughly, the 10th or 11th time I've opened the game with 9.1.5 before it happened. Now, after repeated (7-8) attempts to reach the opening screen, I cannot. I've rebooted several times, still no.

After a few more attempts, I will replace my 9.1.5 app with the previous 9.1.3 and see if the game will open under that environment and quote this portion of my post if it works.

:hangs head: I know we'll get there. I guess there's a reason I've kept my league at this day. I don't really lose anything that way.

FWIW, here's the usual error message and what it says is the error signature. The accompanying file with all the supporting technical info is available on request.
