Can teams be created made up of various players from different eras, e.g. Mantle & Ruth on same team??

You can do that. There is probably a better way of doing it than this but what I would do is first create my new team. Then import the historic players I wanted (themanual shows you how to do this from a peripheral website). Your imported players are dumped into the free agent pool where you can use your commissioner tool to move them to your new team. Good luck.
