I made a template with below setup.
If you want it, I can send you the zipped template. (2.4MB) ![]() (If you PM me your eMail address, I can send the file to you) It is a template, so you can change it around and re-save it the way you like it. ---------------------------------------------------- 30 MLB Teams (Real Teams) 4 Levels of Minors (AAA, AA, A, R) 2 College Leagues and 1 HS League (Total 110 teams. Not real) AI Player Evaluation Ratio: 5, 65, 25, 5 Most of other settings: SkyDog w/RonCo Setup for the League Totals & the player dev/aging modifier. (See below for the details) http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-settings.html http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...difiers-6.html I made this template after reading this thread here. I thought I had to have the feeder leagues to really enjoy the "Stats only" style of game, and added 3 feeder leagues. 1) Draft rounds set to 20/22 (110 feeder teams create enough draft eligible players for this setting) 2) Draft pick trade: ON, FA Compensation: ON 3) Most of the League options/Financials are set to the modern MLB style. 4) I made this template with my original names.txt, first names.txt, nations.txt etc, so there won't be as many European/Asian/African players in the game as in the vanilla OOTP. (And I edited many of the Japanese names to make them more realistic)

Actually, it is up here, so anybody can download it.
![]() .Mac - iDisk * Just put the template in your World Template Folder, and start the game with the custom league mode. ("Create League From Template") Select my template and load it, then go into the advanced mode rather than just start the game, so that you can look into the setups and change them around if you wish.

I couldn't download it, and I'd really like to try it. Could you get it to Padresfan's site? It's Main
Also, could you upload the corrected Japanese name files to there? I'd like to use them, too. Thanks. |

You're right, it works fine in Windows but the archived file has to be renamed first to conform with Windows file naming conventions (it has a comma and a couple of colons in the file name). It might be helpful if you could rename it so that it's usable as is in Windows.
In any case, thanks for the effort and I'll see how the template works for me. |

OFG, thanks a lot for letting me know you DLed successfully!
Couple of notes. 1. If you'd like the real ballpark factors, you should just replace your parks.dat with the one from, for instance, justafans 3d ballparks and select the parks scrolling. (At least that is what I do. I love those 3D parks!) 2. You may wanna change the players talent randomness down to your tastes. 50 is what I like. 3. Think of the template as just a foundation of your MLB style fictional league. Make sure you go to the advanced mode before you start playing the game, so that you can modify everything to your tastes.

I still think you must be joking, but I will answer... ![]() By "realistic" Japanese names, I meant "realistic sounding" Japanese names. Many of the OOTP's default Japanese names are not really used in modern days. (Many of them sound like 500~800 years ago) Even though I think it would not really matter to the most of you here, it really used to make me wanna scratch my head. What I did is just delete those old-fashioned Japanese names from the file, and added some modern ones instead, and then modified the ratio. I do not think it is possible to put Kanji (Chinese character) in this game, isn't it?

I don't know how many of you still play OOTP9, but I do, and I just came along this thread, and it is a godsend. After losing game 7 of the WS after David Price(who was scheduled to pitch game 7) was suspended for some stupid reason in my second season of my Royals franchise, I figured it was time to start something new/more challenging, and this is it. Stats-only should be really fun.

Just bumping an awesome thread and wondering, perhaps I'll ask in the OOTP X - General Discussions thread, if folks are having as much success with this with the addition of the individual pitch ratings in X?

Thanks for this thread...I've never tried stats only but maybe I will. I started a historical in 1901 with the Reds and am now dominating in 1902. But I'm using 1-20 ratings w/no scouting, just to see how I'd do. I'll progressively get harder...I'm thinking scouts next year with 1-20, then 1-10, then 1-5, then stats only.
Thanks! |
