OOTP Developments
|
Hi everyone!
Wow, it seems like forever since I've posted anything out here! I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to the holiday season. As someone who lives in the Philly burbs, I can only say "Wheeeeeee!" Which reminds me, this was really cool: http://www.thefightins.com/meechone/...when-to-cheer/ Anyway, meanwhile, this post is about Major League rosters for next year. As you all know, every year we struggle mightily to get a full Major League roster set ready in time for our release. With the depth of OOTP, it's just a gargantuan task, especially when the release is near Opening Day, and it's reached a point where it's just not realistic to expect a single person to build a roster. So, for OOTP 10, we're trying a new approach. We'll be building a large roster team, with mini-teams responsible for each Major League franchise. We'll also have some people who are in more "supervisory" roles, who will help to ensure that rosters are well-balanced across the league. We are also building some new tools that will really facilitate the creation of a robust, well balanced Major League roster by this team. So, we're soliciting participants for the Roster Team. Roster Team members will also be members of the Beta Team, but the expectation is that these people will be focused primarily on making the best roster set possible. If you are interested, please apply for the OOTP 10 beta team, and in the comments section, please put which team or teams you would be interested in working on, if you have a specific preference. Thanks very much all! Steve |

Just wondering one thing. If you are on the team for making the rosters will you be on the beta team for OOTP 10 to test them out?

I wasn't sure if they would only let the ppl in charge look at the rosters to test them out.

Woh slow down turbo, we nearly had a guy jump off bridge over making the ML rosters in last years beta. Lets get that squared away before we have to deal with a bunch of dudes from Japan, Korea, Mexico, and Cuba (do they have internet in Cuba?) flipping out because player X's Contact rating is way off, and player X plays for team X, and the always popular "You must be out of your F@#$% mind if you think player X is a top prospect!!!!!!".

Hopefully I can get a little more involved than last year. I'd love to be on board helping to lead this project.
This year's 2009 project that I'm working on completing now will most likely be the last of the hardcore ratings that I'll be doing for quite some time as I've decided to start my own league and finally get to PLAY the game (!), but I am very much available for beta to work either as a group leader or for an individual team and would be willing to put some work in. Glad to see things getting organized!

Can you give us any info on this? I would possibly like to help, but I am of the opinion that up to this point it is virtually impossible to create a good real life roster set because of the cumbersome way which you must go about it in OOTP, no matter what size of a team you have. Plus, there is the whole pitcher model problem.
