OOTP Patch version 9.2.11 released!

This version has been very unstable for me as well. Every time I try to change my line up or pitching staff it crashes. Without fail. Any help with this is appreciated. I'm on a Mac.

Almost 1 week and just one guy gives up a comment on this NEW patch.

I know it´s XMas time but I´m sure I´m not the only one with some free time to play OOTP.

I take this as NOT use this patch until even more "veterans" answers and give their opinions.

As for me,I didn't post anything because frankly there was nothing to post.Everything went smooth as silk.As far as I can tell,there are no problems with this version.

I've had the same experience, no problems at all. If many were experiencing bugs the forum would be getting more traffic not less. No posts in this case is a good thing.

This is definitely the final patch for OOTP 9.

Then we've got a BIG problem. The trading of draft picks has a HUGE bug. Trade away a pick, turn the game off and on, get the pick back. Every time.

You can always ignore whatever happens on the trade screen and set up whatever rookie draft order you want manually when the draft begins. I would bet most online leagues do this, keeping track of who owns what picks either in a forum or a draft status page. I don't mean to suggest this work around as an apologist for the game, I just have little faith that draft pick trading will ever work properly in OOTP (Examples: Trading a pick from a different year, trading the same pick twice in the same year).

I play solo, so the bug takes away the ability to trade picks. I could keep track of my trades, but the AI trades picks sometimes, too. I'm going to try to find 9.2.2, re-install it (I accidentally deleted my copy.), and go back to my previous backup. Lose six months, but no biggie. (Made a major change and this will enable me to make the same change a few months earlier.)

I never though of the solo impact of the bug, that's rough. Since I believe this last patch was mostly for the online play side of OOTP rolling back to an old version for solo play seems like a smart idea.

I had similar problems with this iteration. Unfortunately, I've never been able to recover the database but moving forward, starting over again as I've had to do several times, the problem does not seem to occur if you update photos "Always if needed" but DOES occur if you set them to update anually, at least for my version of the faces crash.

Dammit, this is getting beyond frustrating, to put it lightly. Ovccsteve, please let me know if going back to 9.22 fixes this, as I ONLY play solo as well. At this point, maybe I'm wondering if it's best to just go back to OOTP8.

Seconded that this is a major problem for solo players. I build my team through the draft, and this bug handicaps me. I went through last season's transactions to (try) to make sure every team had the proper picks, but I won't have time to do that for every season I play. I'd be happy with a patch that either repairs or entirely does away with the Player Draft Order tab . . .

NOW I got scared, since I play solo.
But in historical dynasty I think draft bugs shouldn´t play any role.

I have players added to their teams and not doing any drafts at all.

However reading the last few "screams" of help I get worried.
Is the last patch mostly for online leagues ????
I know I can read the fixes but sometimes it´s better just to listen to fellow gamers coming up with problems or solutions.

Why I keep doing this, I'll never know, but here's what I did:

• Restored a backed up 9.2.3 game.
• Checked with my transaction log to make sure (see first print screen); yes, I did trade with Oakland for their first round draft pick, #6 overall based on their record. This was in July, after the last amateur draft, so it had to refer to next year's draft.
• Copied my game twice; two exact copies, one each to run with 9.2.3 and 9.2.11.
• Swapped in the 9.2.11 executable file, loaded the 9.2.11 game copy, and generated the first round draft order screen (see second print screen). I saw my #6 draft pick.
• Clicked elsewhere and went back; the pick was gone (see third print screen - don't let #30 faze you; I had that one throughout).
• Simmed the 9.2.11 game to next year's draft day, confirmed I had lost the #6 pick (see fourth print screen).
• Swapped in the 9.2.3 executable file, loaded the 9.2.3 game copy, and simmed to next year's draft day.
• Lo and behold, there was my #6 pick, right where it should be (see fifth screen print).

Conclusions:

• Yes, the draft order screen in 9.2.11 screws up draft pick trade (and presumably free agent compensation) transactions.
• Reverting back to 9.2.2 or 9.2.3 AND a game saved with one of those versions restores the draft pick trading capability.
• However, I don't think reverting back to 9.2.2 or 9.2.3 and a game saved with 9.2.11 will restore lost draft pick transactions. Going forward may be OK, perhaps.

My thanks go to the community member who suggested that I send a PM to one of the OOTP principals about this problem. As much as I respect his opinion, I will not be taking his suggestion. Here's why:

• As someone recently said here, unless you are an "insider," they don't pay attention to you anyway, and
• I've done enough of their work. If one of them cannot be bothered to read these forums (again, there was time to wish everybody a "Happy New Year" this morning, however) and pick up on problems like this, or indeed they have done so and just choose to ignore them, then I am not going to compound my foolishness any further by begging them to take notice.

Let one of the insiders, one of the Beta team testers, bring this to their attention if necessary. I will add this, however: Mr. Developer, don't bother throwing in tidbits in the last patch that have bugs in them when there is insufficient testing time left in the development cycle in order to catch them.
