UBA Website is back...

Hello all. It's been a long time, don't know who might still be here, and wasn't sure where to post this (so moderators, feel free to move it where it belongs).

Surprisingly enough to me, I've received a few requests to put my Universal Baseball Association replay back online. For those familiar with the book by Robert Coover, I set up OOTP and hand configured the details from the book into the game to get an unofficial history of the UBA 1901-1955.

All the details are here - although slightly different from the books details which would be expected - but every player mentioned in the book is documented with his career history.

Thank you to those who asked, and I hope everyone enjoys reading through what was a very personal and passionate experience replaying this league (I loved the book).

Henry

It's cool. Fantastic idea, to incorporate that material into an OOTP league.

I'm planning on getting the book, as soon as I finish Moneyball. Hopefully my hometown library has it, but I doubt it.

It's well worth the read no matter how you get it. If you can't get it at the library head to Amazon for a used copy - about five bucks plus shipping right now.

Great to see you back, Henry, and great to see the UBA site again. Can you tell us anything about how you set up the project - settings, etc?

Henry:

It is exciting to have you and the UBA back! Any chance you are going to update the files to work with the latest version??

Interesting idea ... although I should probably wait till v10. Debating whether to do something with the new game or maybe design a few more ballparks. I'll be retired mid-year and will have some extra "play time".

The UBA setup I used in V5 was a series of UBA player ratings entered into the game at the right time. I think I have all those ratings still but would have to write up a set of instructions and rules settings - something that would be heavily dependent on the game version.

Designing ballparks sounds easier
