Question Questions about how to set up a league

I'm sorry if this belongs down in Historicals, since it does mostly deal with setting up a semi-historical league. Moderators may feel free to move it.

1) When checking (or not checking) the box for 'neutralized ratings', does that mean park neutralized? Other posts have led me to believe that it doesn't mean era neutralized.

2) I would like to start a 1962 MLB universe. Is there a database that will both start the players on the teams where they began the 1962 season (which the Lahman will) and include the minor leaguers who eventually make the majors (as Spritze does)?

3) Has it been pretty well established that 'import history' does not work with custom dbs, only with the Lahman?

4) Is there a way to get financials to advance with the years while strategy settings and league totals remain static? I like the level of offense c. 1962-8, but I'd like the financials to keep changing after 1968.

5) If you set 'import rookies to their historical team' and turn off the draft, but don't expand according to history, do the rookies who would go to the teams that don't exist dump into the free agent pool? Would there be a way to set up a draft for them (to enhance league balance)? Should I make this a suggestion for Version 10?

6) PhillieFever has been kind enough to offer to help me set up logos and photopacks. Some of my teams will be moving, and there may be players who have no photos. Is it possible to mix logos from two sets (a historical and a generic)? Is it possible to mix photos with FaceGen?

7) I want to customize the stadiums. Is there a folder or file in the game that I can look in to find which stadiums were used by which teams over the years, and how the park factors changed year to year?

8) Is there someone who does custom schedules? I'd like a custom schedule that looks more like the 1960s than modern day (which the game can provide). For example, I'd like scheduled doubleheaders, more days off than a game-generated schedule would give, a greater proportion of day games, and true west coast/east coast trips. (Why don't I just use the actual 1962 schedule? I'm shortening the season to 152 games and having interleague play. Each team plays each other four at home and four on the road.)

9) Is there a way to set schedules so they repeat from year to year WITHOUT having the matchups randomized? I'd like for there to always be the same matchups to open the season, on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and to end the season. With those restrictions it would probably be easier to just keep the entire schedule the same.

I'm sure there will be more, but that should be enough to start.

1.The ratings are park neutralized
2.I don't believe so
3.Yes
4.Not automatically,I don't think
5.Yes,they become free agents
6.it is possible to mix face-gen with photopacks, and logos as well but as the facepack updater,I can tell you that there is hardly any players without any photos once you reach the 50's
7.you can customize the stadiums to whichever you like, but how to find the different park effects for the different seasons I don't know.
8.?
9.The schedules that the game generates are the exact schedules used that season if that helps.

keep firing pal

As far as custom schedules - visit THIS board and post what you are looking for.

Schedule god GMO will help you out very quickly.

Thank you, PhillieFever and Afino; you've more than cut my question list in half. Let me try to clairify a bit on what's left:

2) I'm still hoping to find a 'deeper' db that also puts players on the teams (or in the systems) that they actually played for in 1962, and adds incoming players to the system they started in, but I'm beginning to lose hope.

7) I found the park effects file in the data folder this morning. Unfortunately, it looks like it never differentiates between right and left handed batters. That information should be available for at least the last couple of decades, because Strat-O-Matic has it, and it's really important for earlier seasons when many parks had a 'short porch' or 'death valley' that very strongly helped or hindered one side or the other.

8) I'll be posting down there once I collect some information about typical numbers of doubleheaders, days off and day vs. night games for the '60s. Thank you.

9) The exact schedules would only help if there was one for a twenty team league with one subleague, one division, playing a 152 game schedule, and from what I can tell from the schedules file, there isn't one.

My understanding is that if you use the same schedule for multiple seasons, the game engine will automatically rotate opponents from year to year, while keeping the basic structure the same ("only the names are changed…"). I don't want the teams to rotate. I want every season to open with the Braves at the Reds, and to have the Cubs play a Fourth of July doubleheader at Shea. (Yes, I know Shea didn't exist in 1962.)

Thanks for the help so far!

I would think that you could just re-load the custom schedule every year?

I don't have much experience with that, but I would think that works.

Probably GMO would know. I'll ask when I post down there.
