OOTP9: How to add team into existing league?

Hello, I started a league and have a couple of questions. My league start date is Jan 1st 1985, it is historical so I have real players.

My questions,

1. Can I add a team to the league? It is before Spring Training, if so, How do I do it?

2. If I am able to add a team, will there be an expansion draft?

1. Yes. It can only be done in the Offseason or Preseason.
Game > Game Setup > League Setup > Functions
You can select Expand League and Expansion Draft but you can only add teams in even numbers (answer to Q.2).
Alternatively you can select Edit League Structure and add any number of teams - it is still a good idea to add teams in pairs. Make sure you select Generate Schedule at the end otherwise the new teams might not have any games to play.

There is much more to this like changing divisions around and adding historical teams but that should be enough to get you going.

If you are playing historically and add teams, you may need to uncheck Automatically Expand League under Options. I'm not sure if there are issues when the league historically expands.

Thank you 21C.

Now when I added a team, I tried to move the team. I wanted to put one team in the AL west and one in the AL east (the year is 1985). Now automatically they put a team in Oklahoma City. When I went to move the team. It would do it, then when I click on generate schedule, it would move the team back to Oklahoma and change the city, stadium and everything else.

I wanted to add a team to Washington DC and Las Vegas. I am not sure if I make any sense but any help would be greatly appreciated

I believe when you change the team name you have to hit the enter key or it will revert back to its original name. I think you have to hit enter after each entry: city name, team nickname,etc...
