If you mean by moving the teams from the one league into the other league, or creating a third league and moving them all there, then yes you can do either of those from the the league setup screen. |

I've used this technique quite a few times when playing historical/fictional leagues and wanting to replicate a merge type of scenario. It's not perfect but it works for me.

Thanks, guys! Here's the basic chronology I have in mind, as soon as I figure out how to install to my flash drive -
1840's: ~8 team league centered around the New York City-New Jersey area 1850's: ~8 team league centered in New England 1870's: NY/NJ and NE leagues merge into professional league 1900's: Independent AAA league founded on the West Coast, a la PCL Post-WWII: West coast league merges with professional league As you can see, I'm going way back, perhaps even a bit too far back for historical accuracy! |

Not neccessarily. Since you won't introduce professional baseball until the 1870s, you're looking pretty good. I'm just wondering where the central states/midwest are in all this. Don't forget Cin city!

The Midwest will come into play in the late 1860s, when Midwestern populations and railroad mileage both start to boom; in fact, Midwestern teams are going to become the major catalyst for incorporating the professional league in the 1870s. Before the Civil War, though, the state of the railways and the low population of upstart towns such as Detroit, Chicago, and Cincinnati would make it difficult to justify the long trip from Massachusetts to Ohio - at least, that's the way it works in my alternate historical universe.

Well, several weeks later, it's finally time to merge!
I think I've figured out an easier way to keep the league histories without bothering with all that importing and exporting. About 80% of the teams in the two original leagues are going to participate in the merger, but I'm going to keep several "holdouts" - teams that will have nothing to do with the merger, and decide to continue as the "Independent NL" and "Independent AL." |
