Transfer License?

So I bought OOTP 9 last year but recently made the switch from Windows to Mac. Is there a way I can transfer the license? I really don't want to pay the $52 to switch it. I already ordered OOTP 10 but I can't wait any longer.

Can't you run OOTP9 as a windows program on a Mac using Boot Camp?

Yea I could but then i'd have to install windows on my new Mac and risk it getting nailed with viruses. I really just rather run it straight off my Mac. I don't care if they just deactivate my windows license or whatever I just really want it on my mac lol

I had a similar problem just this past weekend.

Email eLicense at support@elicense.com and explain your problem. I also attached a copy of the receipt to the Email. Within one day they reissued my license and I was able to play again.

The licenses are managed by two different companies (viatech/elicense for PC, esellerate for mac) so you could ask them I suppose. The mac company would probably want the license fee and the PC company probably wouldn't want to spend time giving away theirs for nothing so they might ask you to pay an administrative fee or something.

Sorry to be the voice of doom here, but unfortunately, we cannot currently transfer licenses between the Mac and the PC. As kq76 intimated above, the heart of the problem is the fact that different companies handle our licenses for the different operating systems.

Once we're past the "return period" for a product, we cannot process these, because we have to essentially tell one licensing company to give their profit away, say six months after the fact, and not due to any fundamental (e.g. "return-worthy") problem with the game.

Part of this is why we're working on a new licensing platform for all of our products that would enable this sort of sharing between OSes, but for now, I'm afraid I can't offer you any alternatives.

Steve

Hrmph. I understand though that really does... well suck. Hopefully you guys can fix that issue in the next few years as you say you are trying as that really sucks for people who find themselves in situations like these.

Now how do I solve my dilemma... to pay money for a game I will play for a month or not... .. ... I could try and con a rich guy I spose...

dingus, I know you don't want to pay whatever exhorbitant amount Microsoft is asking for their current OS, but if you did I don't think you'd have to worry about viruses. Just shut it down before you go online. I would treat Vista the same way I treat OS 9. I turn it on to play specific games I need it for, then turn it off when I shut the game down. If you're not running Vista when you go online you shouldn't have problems with viruses, worms or any of those other little MS 'gifts'.

Yeah, it kinda does, and so we do hope to address it. But, on the other hand, there aren't many vendors out there who would let you do this. Let's say you bought MS Office for the Mac, used it for six months, and then told the seller you wanted MS Office for the PC instead. What do you think the odds are they'd accommodate you?

In fact, I'm hard-pressed to think of ANY example where a vendor supports this. I'm sure there's one out there, just none come to mind!

I'm sorry, though, that we can't offer you a better alternative right now!

True. Though the difference is I never purchased physical good. It is a digital good that one would expect be easier to manage and adjust in such a way. While I don't think its unreasonable for you guys not to be able to do a transfer I think the customer service reputation and value this adds to your product is beneficial in the long run! But yeah. No worries.
