Fictional League Help

I have been working for the past few weeks creating logos and uniforms for a fictional league (North American Baseball League) which contains 36 teams. I am using a combination of 24 or so fictional teams with a dozen MLB teams mixed in. I have a couple of questions about this and would appreciate any information that could be provided.

First, I would like to use actual rosters from the MLB teams. What is the best way to get these players into my league? Is there a way to export individual teams from Cubby's roster set and import them into my league 1 at a time? If so, how is this done?

Second, has anyone done anything like this? I'm curious if they have done it what kind of results to expect at first ... are the real teams stronger in beginning, or fictional teams stronger, or just random.

Also interested in the best way to bring real rosters into fictional league. Would like to import Cubby's rosters into a 12 team fictional league and have an inaugural draft with the MLB players.

wish I could help. I have been trying to figure this out for 3 days.

I finally created a new historical league from 1970. Dumped all the players into an inaugural draft...deleted 12 teams...then renamed the remaining 12. problem is when I did that the remaining 12 teams "lost" their schedules. No amount of tinkering could get the schedule back. So I remain stuck on this step.

yes its very frustrating. i tried exporting the 2009 rosters out to text file. got that part as i opened the file and see the teams and players how they are arranged. what i dont get is in the interface on league setup, it says Import Rosters ... which below it says "Imports all roster to a simple text file. Only use text files originally generated by the roster export below."

So i do that but i dont see any of the major league players anywhere. What the heck does that mean anyway. The rosters are already in a text file. Why would it import them into another text file ??

I tried cutting and pasting the players from the MLB team in the export file into my custom leagues export file, replacing the team id to match up and importing them. that didn't work, and now my game crashes whenever i select Finish Today.

Surely someone has done something like this before.

What you're going to have to do is regenerate the schedule, which is what you need to do every time you add/delete teams.

From the manual: "You can access the Schedule Editor via the League Functions page, either by selecting Edit Schedule from the Functions action menu, or by selecting Edit League Schedule from the scrolling list."

All you'd really have to do though, is click on the "generate fictional schedule" button at the bottom. You should be all set after that!

you can also get one of the custom schedules from the mod page and drop it in. there are numerous options for number of teams, interleague, division set ups, ect. just go to the create schedule from xml file i believe. put the schedule in the schedules folder and select it from the game. in my experience you have to close the game completely and restart for the schedule to take effect.

Hmmm Ill give that a whirl tonite. I went through the restructure league, deleted the 12 teams and regenerated the schedule. And thats where it hung me up.
