Maximizing defensive value when importing from 6.5

My online league is about to make the switch from 6.5 to OOTP9, and I have some questions about how defense imports. I'm one of those who teaches hitters in the minors every position they can possibly learn (I love that about 6.5), and I'm wondering if anyone has looked at how players' defense imports to OOTP9.
  1. Does a player's designated position affect how his defense imports? If I have a player who has a range of 92 and a .995 FP at 2B and a range of 84 and a .952 FP at SS, will his defense be different if he's designated as a 2B vs. a SS when we import?
  2. Similarly, will a player's defense be better in the infield than the outfield if he's imported while designated as a middle infielder rather than an OF? For example, I have a player who has a range of 72 and a .992 FP in RF and a range of 45 and a .990 at 2B. Does it matter if I designate him as a 2B or a RF when the switch happens?
Any information/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I never felt the need to convert from 6.5 to OOTP 9, but assuming that that conversion works the same as 6.5 to OOTP 2006, then no, the position that a player is set as will have no impact upon his fielding ratings upon conversion.

Fielding ratings across the board will be higher than average because players need the proper component defensive ratings (IF Arm, OF Range, etc) to play their positions. All of your infielders will easily be able to learn first base with some practice. All of your shortstops will easily be able to learn all other infield positions with some practice. All of your centerfielders will be able to learn the corner outfield spots. All of your LFs can learn RF and all of your RFs can learn LF.
