Interesting stuff Afino and RonCo. Thanks for weighing in. For variety purposes I don't mind finding these guys, but it really doesn't make any sense in modeling baseball (sucks with no potential).

If you want to see awful, you should see some of the pitchers I have had in my system over the years. (And my scouts sometimes give them 2 or 3 stars. )

Using the Finley comment. I did think of a interesting background for this kid, provided you change country of origin and the era.
Dinh-Hy Tra escaped with his family from the war torn country of Vietnam in the early 70s. They came to America to restart their lives. Little Dinh-Hy, a teenager got talked into trying out for baseball by one of his new friends at school. Well, he couldnt hit so well. But, he did have some speed. So, the coach used him as PR that year, in what would be his junior year. His senior year he started in CF (most of the seniors graduated, and this was a shell of a team.) Nevertheless, he did overachieve, and became the team's "inspirational leader" given his turmoiled childhood. Just so happens, one of the A's scouts happened to see him play. And Finley, figured with the kid's speed, background, and wacky name (all he needed was some wierd facial hair ) that he'd be perfect to take as the final pick of their drafting phase. And so begins the career of a most unusual player.......(Note: COurse, i suppose you could use Cambodia and the killing fields and use the World Champion Yankees. Later in the decade. I know most of you would like to make all Yankees have these ratings. )

You'll notice (no doubt) that he's not a bad bunter. If he does end up in that 20 AB range, he might get four or five bunt singles, and maybe a few sacrifices.

. In one league one time (I mentioned this guy at least once here) when I had an injury to SS, and really had no true fill-in. I called up a guy from A-ball who really had no prospects. He was an outstanding glove who was a great sacrifice bunter. Could barely hit .200 in A-ball. My orignal intention was to use him as a twice a week or so starter splitting with my utility guy, and a late-inning def. replacement. But, the team kept winning everytime I played him. I was playing with a DH league (if I was playing in an NL style league I wouldnt have been able to do it), but I batted the guy 9th, and used him strictly as I would a pitcher (sacrifice whenever a runner was on, with less than 2 outs). In several games he didnt start, I even used him as a PH just to sacrifice.
