AI Problems?

I've been playing OOTP since v5. Always loved it. Playing V9 now -waiting for 10.
Until 9 I have been a lazy" player - set lineups - see results - reset. etc.
In 9 I have found a passion.
But . . I have a problem with AI.
Opponents with speed >30 stealing bases on catchers with arm rating >80,
opponents with power of >20 hitting home runs, my pitcher with control rating < 80 having 15 hits in a game. Is something wrong?
I'm fielding an above average team - which I've recruited thru hard work! - which has winning of .435. It's frustrating. Is it something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

For the base stealing, check your pitchers "hold runner" ability, as this will have an effect.

Tough to say much based on what you describe.

Sometimes good teams have bad seasons, just like good players have bad seasons, IRL and in OOTP.

If you have scouting on, then you have to at least consider the possibility that the stats are a better measure than the ratings you see.

What you describe sounds not so much a problem with the AI, as much as outcomes generated by the game engine that seem improbable to you. But simple statistics tell you that two players with the same ratings can have pretty dramatically different results over a period time (a whole season even).
So you'd really have to dive into it more to figure out if there is something really "broken" in your team or the way in which the game is playing.

Steve is right. Be specific. How many bases did a 30 speed player steal against that catcher? I mean was it 2, 4, 10 bases? Remember that speed is not the be all. I had a 30 speed guy with 100 steal rating get 25 steals in one season.

Your control pitcher had 15 hits against. How many walks did he allow in that same game?

How good is the division your team is in? If one team is running away with the division, the other teams take the losses.
