Installation questions...

No, I haven't gotten the magic e-mail yet...

But I'm wondering...

One frustration I had with the previous versions of OOTP is the inability - at least, I couldn't find out how to do it easily - to customize paths at the top level for file (i.e., *.lg, - /My Games/) folders.

I install one of my license on my work laptop, and most our work is in a Citrix environment. This means that most default paths for /My Document/ et al are on a shared server, rather than local... while I haven't asked, I imagined storing my OOTP leagues there would be frowned upon

This caused install issues with 2008 and 2009 -- I had to manually reset all my personal folders to local/c-based locations, then install.... then reset everything for work based apps (which in many cases, meant reinstalling).

There's another question about installing on a flash drive -- and while one, of course, cannot install the executable and run from a flash drive (or other such devices; NAS, etc)...

However, for those of us that like to keep EVERYTHING (right down to minor league splits, player photos, etc) -- OOTP saved games can start to take up a lot of space.

It would be great, on install, to be able to set up customized paths for saved games, templates, quick starts, etc via the game itself, rather than needing to reconfigure at the OS level.

I'm pretty sure you can. I know I have my home one on it's on drive and I did it durring install. But let me check the install program, downloading the demo now....

Awesome - thanks for checking...

It's ENTIRELY possible I just never figured how to do it very slickly... I have a tendency to make things harder than they should be or really are!

it's going to take over 2 hours to download the game from this local, don't want to wait, but I'm 99.7% sure that you can. It does create the two folders in mydocs but they are empty.

You can certainly change the default saved_games directory. I've put mine in my main OOTP directory, not in My Documents.
