Old Micro League Baseball sim

Anyone remember this old sim? I remember playing it when I was 11 or 12 on an old IBM PC jr. Micro League Baseball was one of the few games you could run with 256k memory.

It was a great sim. So many fun games.

It was my introduction to sim baseball. Will always have a special place in my heart. I spent MANY hours inputting stats into the GM/Disk and then using the STAT Compiler...many hours...

Loved that game back in the day. I think I played it on a Atari 800 ST I think it was called.

lol, yep. I did that, too. Id also make tournaments and draw up brackets and pit all of the teams against each other. The gameplay was always pretty realistic.

Me too, I remember buying baseball cards and importing stats from the back of the cards. I'll one up you on the geek side of it. I would play out seasons, keeping box scores from my games and keeping the stats.

Ah Yes..

I had it in late 85 or early 86..

Played it on a commodore 64

Being a huge cards fan I loved the stats from the 85 season.

Another subject ... My first baseball game on a "real computer"

Earl Weaver Baseball played on an old 4 mhz 8088 processor with 640k of ram and DOS on a 5.25 floppy and a green screen monitor.. mmmm....

Started Microleague for the Commie in 1984...eventually picked up the 83, 84, and 85 season disks along with the GM editor. I had a team that I played in a snail mail league that was lots of fun. If I concentrate I can still hear it playing the American and Canadian anthems.

As others have posted, I too played this A LOT as a kid. I kept box scores, stats, standings, everything.

I played it on the Commodore 64 and later the the Commodore 128. Micro League was actually quite a program given the extremely limited capacity that computers had back in those dark ages. The Commodore 64 had 64k of operating memory! I actually had the priviledge of being the "scout" of the Minnesota Twins in order to provide the game company with player ratings for what I recall was its second season.

I had this enormous box of crappy condition cards. My buddies and I used to have drafts out of the box and play season after season. Cesar Cedeno was one of my favorites because of his '85 stats with the Cards - .434/.463/.750
He was a late season pickup by St. Louis and we would only input the line at the bottom of the card. He DOMINATED!

Yep I put my time in on this beast of a game with the ol commodore 64. Do you guys remember how much software used to get piraetd with the Commodore 64. I remember one of the programs was called Fast Hack Em and they would have the parameters that were scrambled, so you would copy them onto a 5 1/4" after you copied the disk and it was playable.

Amazing how technology has changed.

Still would love to kill the clowns that raped commodore, amiga was way head of MS

Ahh, Loved this game. Owned the 84 and 85 team disks along with the GM/Owners disk and Box Score/Stats Compiler disk.

I used to get the big posterboards and make a grid on them and write out the schedules along with the probable starting pitcher and a box for the result. I was only 10-13 at the time, so it really got me into baseball and statistics

used to play the game with the tiny cards and you rolled the dice to determine outcome of each at bat. cant even remember the name of the game, but used to track all my stats/standings on paper.

then got a computer and discovered earl weaver baseball ... life was good ! would stay up all weekend and play that game on my piece of crap tandy.

If you are talking dice games then you were probably playing either Strato-Matic or APBA Baseball. I bought my first APBA game in 1965. I have been a sports replay/management junkie ever since.

You could use the stat compiler to actually update your season disks. The format in which the stats were saved was identical to the format in which the player models were saved.

I built feeder leagues that would have players all with 100 ABs and 50 IPs, and then play games with them, adding their game stats to the original 100 ABs and 50 IPs. (The players who would get hot during those games would become the huge prospects, those who went cold would be the also-rans.)

Ah yes APBA Baseball .. that was it .. when i ran out of the blank cards they supplied used to try and create my own .. trying to write in that 2 pt font was a pain !!!
