Career Ending Injuries

Hi, I was wondering if it is ever possible for a player with a career ending injury to recover?
Just curious because I recently lost Jacoby Ellsbury to a career ender and Justin Upton is a free agent due to being let go because of his injury. Is it worth taking a risk and siging him cheap? Or will he simply disappear at the end of the season?

I've been playing about two months and I have yet to see or hear of that. Normally when you are informed of the career ending injury you place that player on the Disabled List and then you are informed later that they have retired at the end of the season. I've never seen a recovery.

A Player Who Recovered from a Career Ending Injury

I do know of a ballplayer who suffered a catastrophic injury and managed to have one stellar comeback season.
