waiver bug or am I missing something?

Can anyone tell me why I would not be able to claim this player?

I have a fictional league with a MLB structure, the player is on irrevocable waivers and claimed by Baltimore they have a winning percentage of .456 my team has a winning percentage of .404.

The players salary is 400k and I have room for 15 million, yet every time I try to claim him I get a message saying someone with more priority claimed him, I can't afford it or the team pulled him back.

am I missing something? I do not remember encountering this before...the guy has one day left though and I do not want to lose him unless I really should.

Thanks in advanced for any help

I think league takes priority over schedule. Are you in the same league?

I thought about that but was unable to find any documentation saying sub leagues get priority in the manual, wiki, nor forum searches. But both the original team and the team that claimed the player are in the AL and my team is in the NL.

Is this league priority working as intended?

If a player is waived, any team may claim him. If more than one team claims the player from waivers, the team with the weakest record in the player's league gets preference. If no team in the player's league claims him, the claiming team with the weakest record in the other league gets preference. In the first month of the season, preference is determined using the previous year's standings.

Explained perfectly.

Technically, in MLB, that only applies to trade waivers. For the other kinds of waivers—optional assignment, outright assignment, and unconditional release—the team with the lowest record without regard to league gets the player.
