Lightbulb Post issues with the Major League roster sets here, please!

Hey guys,

we want to constantly improve the major league roster set, so please post issues you run across here.

Please do not post issues with players being on wrong roster / lineup / pitching staff spots, the AI sets these up and there is nothing we can do to force player X to be used in a certain predefined way.

Also, do not post stuff like "Pujols just hit .260 in my sim, this cannot be right." or "Why has Kershaw better ratings than Lincecum?". Posts like these will be ignored!

Please post here:
- Errors in contracts
- Issues with players being in the wrong organization
- Vastly wrong player ratings (disable scouting first so you see the real ratings), for example a Double-A scrub having allstar-calibre ratings

Thanks for helping!
Markus

Hiroki Kuroda has 19 batting contact, placing him only behind Jose Bautista
Jair Jurrjens has 18 as well

They're both starting pitchers.

Turn off scouting! But I agree, they are indeed a bit overrated.

Ahhh, I thought I could do that by just switching to the OOTP section in the scouting options. My bad.

Edit: They're both still 14 and 13 though. But that's probably irrelevant enough to not make a difference.

Lost in all the hooplah, I think we all forgot to look at the hitting ability of pitchers.

I can fix that pretty quickly in the next release.

RA Dickey as 1/2 a star? Rated as a "well below average pitcher?" he's arguably the ace of the Mets!

Do you have scouting off? I don't have the game loaded but I have the rosters in an Excel file and Dickey is a 85-170-118 which should be much better than a 1/2 star.

The knuckleball may be making the game put him in as an emergency start/bullpen role, I will take a look later if that's the case and fix it.

Also, I'll be going through and taking another look at hitting/pitching ratings for all MLB players this weekend. I think our park adjusted ratings may have come in a bit too high/low on some guys, so we'll be fine tuning that for the next patch. Sorry if those look a bit off.

I can confirm that Dickey is only a .5 star with scouting off.

Thanks - he should absolutely be at least a 2 1/2 - 3 star. I will take a look.

Ricky Romero looks fairly underrated to me.

He's a borderline ace/#1 starter, and the game see's him as a 3 star, decent pitcher for the bottom half of your rotation.

He's improved every season of MLB pitching. Last year, he walked just 80 in 225 innings. I think he deserves a higher control rating then 11. I would also raise his stuff rating.

His personality says he's selfish, but everything I've read about him is the opposite. He's the leader of the pitching staff, and takes that role seriously. He's not someone I would consider a classic "selfish" player.

I'm not saying he's elite or anything, but he's knocking on the door and should be rated as one of the top 20 starters in the game.

Projection systems have always had a man-crush on Ross. It needs to be lowered from his current power, but most of the systems have him with at least 20+ HR in a full time role.

Likewise, projection systems always hate Romero. I know he's outperformed it lately, but his FIP hasn't been great the last three years (xFIP better though). Needs a bump but will have to disagree on top 20 starter.

Personalities are not rated. After all, how can anyone know enough about a true player's personalities to rate players. It's random. As for Romero, he is the Blue Jays ace but put him on a lot of other teams and he is a number 2 guy. I think he is top 50 which makes a 3 star seem just about right. That being said, remember what markus said in his original post. We are only looking for vastly underrated and overrated players. Not the difference of 3 stars and 3.5 stars.

I did look at Marcus post, and feel he is pretty underrated, difference of opinion. Thank's for telling me I'm wrong though.

Ben Francisco is new to the Jays, so I don't know too much about him, but he can't be that good, can he.

Game see's him as a 4 star outfielder, 13/13/11/11/15.
Scouting report see's him as a excellent option, capable of hitting .290. The in game editor agrees.

He needs a major downgrade, right? I mean, he's kind of a afterthought in the Toronto outfield. Our 5th outfielder. His stats aren't very impressive.

Don't take offense. It didn't help my opinion of him after his horrible start yesterday and he was on my fantasy baseball team.

Yes, big-time. I'd probably peg him as a 2-star who hits LHP extremely well. Will be adjusted.

Lance Berkman only has a defensive rating as a first basemen. However, he is also a competent corner outfielder.

We had him rated as a terrible OF up until the final set, but the Cardinals kept using him in RF and putting Mark Hamilton (???) at 1B. Ended up taking away his OF experience (still has OF ratings themselves though) so the Cardinals would use him at 1B full-time. I doubt he plays any more OF for the rest of his career, anyway.
