Do you allow minor leaguers to reach majors in historical leagues?

i have read in the manuals that if you start a historical league theres a option to prevent fictional players from reaching the majors so that they dont replace actual historic players..
do you allow them to reach the majors or not??
if you do what has been your experience like?

You might want to wade through all the possibilities the game can provide you and make up your mind from that. Hit the Game tab on top of the page for whatever league you've got. Under "Advanced", click on Setup & Options. Then review what each screen shows you through all the tabs on top, particularly the far right one on "League Setup". Lots of choices - or you can leave it default.

If I'm playing an historical league, then no, I don't allow fictional players to reach the majors. Most of the time I don't even have any minor leagues just because of that. The only time I'd allow minors is with the QuickStart 2012 setup or I'm doing a fictional league.

When those minor leaguers come up, some are fantastic, some just ok, some wimp out quickly, some develop late - same as in real life.

one last question what do you choose for player development in your historical league??
do you choose the recalculate player ratings every year based on real stats.

I never use fictional players for historical leagues, so I simply use ghost players in the minors. Typically I use reserve lists or just one level of minors.

I always use 3-year recalculation of player ratings and turn off player development.

I would be shocked to hear too many people say that they do allow fictional players to reach the majors when they play historical. I think that the whole point of historical is to replay it with the players that were there in the past, IMO.

I play that way. Historical is not a replay but rather a different universe to me.

Edit
Right but the post I replied to suggested that people shouldn't play a certain way. That's like disallowing an opinion. I didn't make any comments about how others play.

Yes but many versions ago.

To each their own. I know it's something I just wouldn't do, and I'm just guessing by saying what I think other people do

Although I do use minors in my historical replays, I don't use fictional players since it gets crazy if you don't let them in the majors, and I don't let them in the majors because there's enough change from reality going on with the OOTP dev engine.

I thought player development is not active in historical replays.

I suppose I meant historical simulations. I'm lazy, so basically the only way I play is by simming, usually some kind of historical from 1871-the present.
