Statistics when summing

I started a fictional league in 1961, and I plan on simming 25 years and then erasing history. Next I'll sim 25 more years, and then start in 2011. My question is this: I set it so the stats will resemble 1961, so when it reaches the 2000s will the stats resemble that time period?

If you have the box checked that imports settings every year, then you will have progressing stats. If not, then your stats will resemble 1961 for the most part 50 years later.

Out of curiosity, why would you erase the history after 25 years? You are not the first person to mention doing this, I just don't understand it.
