MVP Selection

How does the game select "MVP"? I know it's really a batting award, pitchers need not apply. What criteria are used? Can it be user configured? Thanks!

p.s. I tried to search for this but it wasn't readily apparent ... please forgive me if my search skills are lacking.

My best guess is VORP/WAR ratings. They seem to be the basis of most awards and all-star selections.

you can do "manual awards" and pick them yourself but other than that I don't think you can change the computer logic.

This ^^. I manually select all awards in my leagues. I always hit Ask Computer. I noticed it seems to always be the player with the highest WAR.

Not in my case. There's been 2 straight years where my center fielder led the league in WAR and he was wasn't MVP. This most recent year I believe it but 2 years ago it stumped me. I'll try to remember to post some data when I'm back at home ... have to be at stoopid work.

Was the other player's team ahead of yours in the standings?
