Post Mario Mendoza

I was wondering how Mendoza may be doing in some of the retro leagues. You may remember Mario as the namesake for the Mendoza Line (a batting average of .200 or lessa) He should show up with the Pirates in 1974, but he played through 1982.

I was wondering if he is able to brake out of the lifetime illustration of futility that his career really was.

Thanks

Not sure on that but I do know that you will be able to use his son in the 2002 rosters once the full minors have been completed.

No way

Mario used to live accross the street from me when I was 6-8, when he played for Texas. His son was maybe 4 years old at the time. I was in little league, and would play baseball with him all the time. That is cool.

The last I had heard about him was that he went back to Mexico after the 1982 season. If my memory is correct his 4 year old son spoke better English then he did. So if he is still in baseball it is most likly as a scout in Mexico.

Mendoza is a minor league manager now. His son is a pitcher in A ball for the Angels I think. I forget which team he is on, but I do know that I created him for the OOTP3 roster file.

In my third year of my custom league it's 1973 and Mario is on my AA team.

He's batting .173.

Gohorns, Mario may be heading your way next year. He is currently the manager of the Shreveport Swampdragons in Shreveport La. The Swampdragons have already announced they are moving to Frisco Tx next year.

Wasn't Mendoza actually a hitting coach at some point?
