This is great stuff! hopefully it all makes it into some version.

I'd just like to second the call for a 'notes' section somewhere on the hidden card. It could add a bit of character, you could record triple crown winners, times they refused to sign for you in FA, amazing feats, even make up stories for them,

Great stuff.

You could then load up the Lahman Database and play out those past seasons while also playing out them out on the real schedules. And given how very different the past real schedules are from anything generated by OOTP itself or the Stickware utility, as well as very different from modern day schedules, it is to me almost a must.

The doubleheader was a very prominent feature for a great many past seasons as scheduled events (and of course, due to postponements, even more were played than originally intended).

As to your order of priority, I would disagree somewhat, but then, everyone would likely have different opinions there.
This is a great list of suggestions.

Rusty, I agree with you on the doubleheaders and recall a thread where we discussed historically correct trading deadlines, waivers and such.

I hope this idea will have more support now.

In the '50's and early 60's, teams carried 28 players until May 15 and the trading deadline was June 15.

In addition, interleague trading was restricted to certain times in the offseason--which made the winter meetings so important.

Waivers can make for great strategy in on-line leagues, don't forget!

There isn't anything in the PbP to describe these types of outs, so that might be something that could be added. The effect is the same, but they way the results show up in game may not be what you are looking for.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, and if so I apologize, but I'd love to see the full minor league gamut installed into the game. By that I mean signing bonuses to draftees, rookie level and high/low A ball separated, and even stuff like a fall league. I realize this would be incredibly hard to implement, but that's why it's a wish list, right?

Many others have already said other stuff like waivers, Rule V Draft, etc. Good ideas, all of 'em.

(Edit: Forgot the 40-man roster, without which, of course, waivers make no sense. My bad.)

I've been thinking about this for a while, and what if we had more of an online/game connection. For example, having head to head games (I know has been brought up numerous times) but also having a list that people could submit their name in and it would be a global list. People would create a manager profile, telling who they are, their age and any other info and also choosing their specialties, and than owners of teams could choose a few to be GM's, Field Managers, minor league coaches, scouting directors and hitting and pitching coaches. They could offer them a certain amount of money and the person could decide if they want the job or not. Than they would have their own screen where only they could do things. For example, GM's have access to the trade and free agent screen, field managers have access to controlling the game, and even possibly (crosses his fingers) we could play out minor league games and minor league managers could play out their games. Also, this could have something to do with how well a player develops, depending on how much playing time he gets. This way, an online league could have say over 200 different guys doing different jobs and we could have one gigantic super league. Also, and this is really dreaming, but if we could find a way for this to connect to ITP and guys could also be players and go up an swing and pitch in the game. Hiring players and signing contracts could be that much more fun.

Been away for a while, but I thought I'd add a few ideas...

-When you're simming up to a certain day or year, there should be a beep or some other sound to signal you when the simulation is complete. There could also be a sound to let you know when you've received an email. This would allow you to minimize the game and work on something else while you're simming. (Too often, I've set the game to sim an entire season and go to work on something else for 20 minutes, only to open it back up to find it has stopped simming on April 7th because Joe Doe has a no-hitter going after 8 innings.)

-Speaking of emails, we should definitely have the option of specifying which types of emails to stop simming for. This way, we could be notified of trade offers, injuries, and players coming off the DL, but not requests for contract extensions, rants about being put on the trading block, and winning on a promotion day.

-I would like the option (especially for solo leagues) to edit records for a specific season so that we may start the league in mid-season. In other words, if we wanted to begin simming on August 1 after the trade deadline deals, we could enter in the records for all the teams and certain other statistics (I know it would be unreasonable to assume anyone would want to enter in EVERY stat for every player, so perhaps we could simply have the option of entering in things like team batting averages and ERAs and the AI could randomly assign stats to individual players based on these entries.)

-Along with the waiver system, there should be the option to send players coming off the DL on a rehab assignment in the minors. So anytime you remove a player from the DL and add him to a minor league team, a prompt will ask you whether it is a rehab assignment. If you confirm that it is, the player will only play in the minors for 3 days (or however long the league rules mandate a rehab assignment can be.)

That's all the new ideas I have for now. I have to say, though, that I don't see any suggestions in this thread that I don't like. I sincerely hope all of these make it into OOTP eventually.

More from me soon!
