I Hate Everyone!

This board has gotten ridiculous lately. Here is some advice:

Those complaining about the games release - Get a LIFE! My god, it's a computer game, not some elixir that will cure you from a deadly poison you just ingested. There are other things in this world you can do such as go to school, work, hang with friends or just watch TV. There is a whole big bold world out there that can occupy your time till then.

If you guys truly hate how the company has handled the matter, don't buy the game. Isn't that the ultimate form of protest against something you feel is wrong?

Those who go into each thread and bash those guys - I hate you too. You bump those stupid threads to the top. I'm starting to feel like some of you get off on those threads and responding. If everyone just teamed up to not respond to those threads, they'd be off the first page within an hour.

Those who defend the game to no end - I hate you too! Some of you act like you have your life savings invested in this company. I swear, Markus could put a virus into the game that blew up your hard drive and some of you would still say what a great game this is. It's a computer game, if you like it, great, if you hear someone doesn't like it, respect their opinion and move on.

Finally, the delay shows that the company isn't as established as we thought. They are clearly miles away from being a legit software company. The saddest thing is that this game was delayed due to ITP. If you have played ITP, you'd know it is arguably one of the worst games I've ever played. OOTP however is one of the best games I've ever played. A good company never takes their bread winner for granted. It'd be like Coca-Cola not having enough Coke products to ship because they spent their time making Vanilla Coke.

Personally, I doubt I'll buy V6. I have a great time with V5 still and I don't know what to expect out of V6. I truly don't think it will be out till mid-late April. Even after it comes out, we most likely won't have rosters, and I'm sure plenty of bugs with this new system in place. By the time the game is playable, it will be summer. I don't spend much time in the Summer at home on my computer. Most of my OOTP time is spent from March-May, so needless to say, this delay has cost them atleast one customer.

After that being said, I'm not mad at them. It was a business decision they made, and perhaps they will gain many more new customers from this decision. I'll enjoy V5 and if V6 comes out this week, I'll probably buy it. I didn't preorder the game because I felt the price cut and preorder strategy was put in place to enable them to lock in customers when the game is majorly delayed.

Maybe I'm wrong, who knows...but right now, I hate everyone.

Myths and Legends 101:

One of the most enduring myths is that since the beginning of time, a new version of OOTP has been released every 1st of March since the discovery of the New World in the sixteenth century. Actually, there's only been one March release, so why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist or presuming a March release is, to be honest, a loon.

Presumably a perfectly nice loon, just trying to speed up the process a bit, but still, prefixing a post about moaning before moaning (for example, 'I'm not mad' vs. 'I hate everyone...I'm not buying it because I've been robbed of a month by this delay...pre-order is a scam to delay the project that isn't even late'), and why particularly anyone might want to hear it, is not the way to garner sympathy.

I'm all for targeted posts that discuss why and how the process can be improved, and the sentiment of the first part of the post is nice. But if this post isn't a rant like the ones that you hate, why are you posting? Send an email if you don't want anyone to respond.

Again, not a flame - but I don't see how this post helps us get towards a policy we in the community or OOTP could consider (a fixed release date set beyond completion, or rolling weekly updates etc.)

Sounds a little far-fetched to me. I think you're way off base here.

P.S. I love you, man.

I need to ask:

WHAT ****ING "DELAY"!?!

Stop being assmonkeys!

The game has been scheduled for MONTHS to come out sometime around opening day.

Apologies to Steve K. This garbage is getting stupid.

Kez, you are obviously new to OOTP.

OOTP0, OOTP'v. -1', OOTP 'v. -2' and all the way back to the OOTPs when you could only run the Federal League were realised on March the 1st. This game thus bucks that long established trend.

you know, i could really give two ****s when the game is released, but i hope next year there's no pre-ordering of the game in hopes of eliminating just one pro- or anti- "this game needs to be released yesterday" thread/post. i'm not saying anyone asked for this mess, but in my opinion, the pre-ordering has lead a lot of people to believe they can bitch and moan about getting this game quicker.

And rightfully so. If you pay for something, you should have some information on when you will be getting it. It'd be like ordering something online and having the store tell you "we'll ship it when it's ready".

I wasn't bashing OOTP for their decision to delay the release. Just stating it wasn't a business decision I would have gone with. Like someone said, this isn't an action/adventure game that can be released whenever, it's a seasonal game. Most of your baseball games have hit the market and I'm sure some with a limited budget will move on to something else. But like I mentioned, perhaps this business move will increase sales, just doesn't seem like it to me.

My bad, I didn't realize they had changed their "around opening day" position.

The most ironic part of it is that if they wouldn't of pre-ordered, they would of still bought the game, received it on the same day, and paid 10 bucks more. I think it is a pretty safe assertion that anyone who preordered was going to buy the game anyways.

As generous of gesture as it was giving the discount, I am sure OOTP wants to get the game out as soon as possible and stop, in essence, handing out a ten dollar bill to anyone who buys it.

To be honest, i dont really mind people asking when the game is released. I can understand the anticipation especially if you just heard about ootp. Hell i imagine most all of us look forward to the new release. But i also understand if someone is told and they post the same question agin in 5 more threads.

My take on this is that the game will be released when Markus is damn good and ready. Whether that is opening day or July 4th it doesnt matter as long as Markus puts out the product he is willing to stand behind.
If it comes out opening day hey great if not then i have enough faith that thegame is being fine tuned and not because Markus is sitting back, having a beer and laughing at us like someone holding a carrott in front of a horse.

Lets let the man finish his work in peace. I mean theres nothing you or i can do to make the game come out faster. So just use the time to play ootp5 or edit databases or collect your photos etc.
Theres plenty to do besides worrying about a release date.

One word to the release date: I still hope to get the game done in March, although it may be early April. We want to make sure that every new feature works as advertised and that the new engine is in excellent shape. So far things look great, btw
