Original Schedule Files Now Available at Retrosheet!
After many months of slow but gradual work, the first release of original regular season schedule files have been posted at the Retrosheet web site (www.retrosheet.org)!
I've been working with Dave Smith of Retrosheet along with several other folks there to get these schedules doublechecked and any errors arising from misprints on the published sources or typos on my part removed. The files are based on the plain text schedules files I put together covering every MLB season from 1880-2004, and the initial release consists of some 70 of the 125 MLB seasons. Work continues on proofing and preparing the rest of the schedules for posting. If any of you who received the plain text schedules from me by e-mail may want to check the Retrosheet files out, as they are in a different format from the one I used. The format used there is very similar in layout to their game log files, so if you have any experience working with those you'll feel right at home in the schedule files. And by the way, since every MLB season will eventually be available made available at Retrosheet in this CSV format, it might be VERY good idea to have the upcoming schedule importer in OOTP6 be compatible with this format. There are also some other additons made to the site as well, so stop by Retrosheet and see what's new! P.S. - Since some of the schedules which were posted did indeed have a few corrections made to them, those folks that had received the complete collection of plain text schedule files from my by e-mail might want to contact me so I can send them an updated zip file containing the corrected files. Or, you can get them from Retrosheet, the choice is yours. |

Good job, Orange.
Markus, can you make sure that these will import into OOTP6? If not in the first release, then in a later patch?

If you have different abbv's, such as NYG instead of NY1 for the NY Giants, will the sched's work? Or will I need to change abbv's in-game to load the sched's and then change them back?

I am pretty sure LGO used the Abbreviations from Lahman's 5.0.

Since the schedule files at Retrosheet are simply CSV text files, you could just open them in Wordpad and run a search and replace to change the various abbreviations to whatever you want, and then save the changes. As long as the new abbreviations match those used in the league file, I would expect it to import without issue. That's only if you want to use your own custom team abbreviations of course. If you want to use the Lahman Database, you do need to use the Lahman team abbreviations. The schedule files are already using those abbreviations, so there's no problem there. |

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me the steps in allowing the "retrosheet" schedules to be imported into OOTP6.
I am trying to start an historical league and would like to use actual schedules. Unfortuneatley this format stuff is way outside my area of expertise.

OOTP6 doesn't accept the format that retrosheet uses, so imports aren't possible right now. LGO is working on it, though.

Any suggestions for historical league replay as far as scheduling is concerned? I have been using stickware.

All I can suggest for right now is to start a poll on the forum asking if Markus should get the Retrosheet format schedule files compatible with the OOTP6 importer. If enough folks respond, it could get a change implemented.
The other option would be to e-mail Markus directly to ask him to get the Retrosheet format supported. Reformatting all the schedule files is a rather daunting prospect, and doesn't seem like it should be necessary since the Retrosheet files are in a CSV format. |

Has anyone tried playing doubleheaders yet in 6? I'm aware this is a tangent away from the original thread intent, but to be able to play doubleheaders and have the stats count would be vital for this to work as well.
