I'm not a beta tester, just doing a preview. I just got the beta yesterday, for the express purpose of doing a preview. I'm not treating this like I would if I were beta testing (although I've noticed a few things that I've passed along to Markus). I'm doing this level of work because I *WANT* this game to be better. When I say "I'm not a fan", I should expound: I love to play text sims, but I'm a "fan" of none of them. I'll jump ship in a heartbeat if someone else comes out with a better game, which is the way that I hope most gamers in the genre are.

From what I understand SkyDog is a very big player in the sports simulation genre. Getting a good (p)review from him is like hitting the jackpot because a LOT of people are going to read, trust, and base their decision to buy on what he says.

Making a 15 year old who spends all day and all night playing OOTP and knows it inside and out but has no rep in the industry (EDIT: I'm not at all thinking of anyone in particular) a previewer is not going to help as much as someone like SkyDog will.

EDIT: That said, SD should know what's new and what's not if he's going to write a (p)review. Unlike Jonah though, he's already edited his work after being corrected.

My burning question: is there any way I can use the new ratings for hitters and the old-style ratings (avoid hr/bb etc) for pitchers?

Very minor comment about something I noticed in your preview (well done and informative so far):

Your first player card, on page 2, I think the guy's name is Lorusso: 'extension' is incorrectly spelled 'extention'. Not a big deal but it will be showing up often on player cards so figured that's a typo he might want to fix.

Apologies if this should have been posted somewhere else.

The thread for that is at: ***Please post all spelling/typos/grammar errors here****

The typo that eats at me constantly is the "Broadcating" one in the financial reports.

I mentioned this one to Markus just this morning as a matter of fact.

well i can't remember my password for my Cecil Fielder account over at FOFC so i can't log in from work (it was still logged in at home last night) so I can't comment there, but i would just like to say thanks to SkyDog for giving us such a great in depth preview. It is really getting me excited to play the game. I should've sent my damn money order priority mail so that I know that my ORDER-ID will be here when the game is released!

you know, i bet i do remember the password to my Kevin From Dell account over there at FOFC.

Heck no. It'll be at least a couple of weeks after the first patch before I would even come close to making any sort of conclusions.

Any way to add "homeruns allowed" to the stat lines when looking at the career stats for a pitcher? The "career stats" section is the only place I know to get a good snapshot of a pitcher's consistency over more than a 1-2 year period, but the lack of HR's allowed has always been a problem to me.

Football: I personally prefer FOF2K4 to TPF, although I must admit that I haven't really tried out TPF 1.40 (latest patch). There are some pretty big stats anomalies with the latest TPF patch that prohibited me from giving it much of my time.

I don't do soccer, but from everything I've heard, CM is a *wonderful* game.

FYI, I've put some new stuff up this morning from letting the latest build run overnight.
