Just so y'all know, check the thread now. There's a link to HTML reports of stats from the first season. Overall, things look a lot better than in the past.

Yes it is. This is a beta version. There are still some things to be worked out. Remember, it will be released when it is fully tested and found to be ready.

Also, Looking briefly at the transactions page. I didnt see any players claimed off of waivers. Perhaps i overlooked it, but it doesnt appear to be happening.

Yeah I noticed the complete lack of waiver claims and post-deadline deals....I hope this is just for the beta version...

Oh and...ahem...I don't want to raise mine or anyone else's hopes but there could be a reason for OOTP5 reports: Implemented Catobase.

???

Couple other minor things...
1. Strange Injuries:
PIT: Chet Trudel was injured being hit by a pitch.
Diagnosis: Scratched Cornea Eye.
He is out for about 1-2 weeks.

2. I see no players listed for the next amateur draft. Do you still have the option of setting the draft date? (June 1 vs. offseason?).

3. Also curious. All these reports show player ratings. What happens when you turn off ratings? My hope is that they show stats.

4. There are only a handful of players available as FA. Is this by design, or because its a new league? I guess a few more iterations will tell.

5. Why is the game generating Coaches/Scouts with the option turned off?

Otherwise, looks pretty good. No exceptionally good players on the waiver wire or rule 5 draft. Can't wait for the game to come out! KUTGWM

Or, it's just a very minor and quck thing to fix that they're putting off until the end.

It's the same way now... OOTP doesn't generate amateur draft players until the "proceed to next season" button is pushed. At that point, the game was at the end of the season.

No. There's not much new in the reports that I can see:

SkyDog's OOTP6 League Reports:

http://www.younglifenorthdekalb.com/ootp6/ (EDIT: SkyDog has taken it down as he says below, but hopefully he'll put it back up)

chrisj's CBL OOTP5 Reports:

http://cbl.ootp-leagues.com/cbl/

I see the new waiver wire report and the new rule 5 eligible report. Anything else?

EDIT: I'm disappointed the player dev reports are not more like BOSI's in listing batting and pitching rating changes. I don't think it was ever said they would be, but I think a lot of people have said and would say BOSI's dev reports are one thing they'd love to see in the game generated reports. It (listing rating changes, not the report itself) would need to be turned off for talent only leagues though.

EDIT2: There's also still no trade stories listed (breaking news report). Trades are probably the most important news stories in baseball. I think it's about time they be included. Any others?

EDIT3: Better financial reports didn't make it either.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Markus has found a fixed a bug that had an impact on stats being generated. I have therefore removed the HTML report from the server. He is getting another build to me, and I'll report back in on stats with that build later today or first thing tomorrow.

Player development now appears to happen all the time as opposed to just on mondays.

Copied and pasted from the FOFC Preview Thread....

Quote:
I feel that one thing is important to say to the many who aren't "from 'round here", but are reading this thread. Many people who are somewhat unfamiliar with me and with FOFC are reading this because of the link at OOTP Developments. To that group, I want to make sure y'all understand that you're *not* reading the impressions of an OOTP fan. I've been frustrated with this game for years for various reasons (so frustrated, for example, that apparently I missed the renegotiation commentary changes in one of the later patches of OOTP5 because I got to the point that I didn't care to try another patch out). Right now, there are still some things remaining that annoy me (and I've mentioned a couple of 'em already), but they are beginning to feel less significant because my worst grievance, the stats/development side of the game, appears to be much improved, and only will require minor tweaking to be pretty solid.

Your post (Skydog) seems kind of odd. I mean you seem to be doing a heck of a lot of work on the preview and you're even a beta tester.

Seems like a lot of work for someone who's not a fan of the game. Having said that, I think the preview is very interesting and I've been reading along. Thanks for all the information.

I would think it is better to find out what someone who has been eternally frustrated with the game thinks about it, than someone who has already bought into it completely. As a developer, you want to please the core fans, but you always want to work on pleasing your critics to grow your customer base.

You don't learn to please your critics by listening to your core fans.

I agree Tekneek, I'm not saying it's a BAD thing to have someone with a "jaded" eye looking at the game. Just seemed kind of odd to me that someone who seems pretty unhappy with it would go through all the trouble of beta testing and writing up a preview.

I'm only jealous, but how has someone who thinks that an OOTP5 feature is a NEW OOTP6 feature, been selected as a BETA tester?
