Post Pitchout?

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I couldn't find anything in a search and I am new to v3.

I see the computer do pitchouts sometimes, but I don't see it as an option when I'm in the field. Is this correct? or am I missing something here?

Also, does holding the player on at first decrease your chances of stealing 2nd base? From what I can tell, this nor does swinging and missing on a hit and run decrease your chances of stealing. Although if I don't hold a player on at 2nd base seems like he can steal 3rd at will.

I guess what I am trying to say is 'stealing' just doesn't feel right to me. Not to say that the leaders aren't the fastest in the league, Furcal, Bagwell, Lofton, etc.. but when I see an E in speed and an E in stealing steal a base on me, with my catcher at a B for arm - it makes me scratch my head.

Thanks,

Todd

Holding the runner affects whether he gets a good jump or not. I'm fairly certain that if a computer runner doesn't get a good jump it doesn't say anything in the play-by-play. This means that the only time you see this mentioned is when the runner gets a good jump and makes a steal attempt.

As for the pitchout, it is an option for the defense. I think it is listed with defensive alignment options, but I don't have the game on my work PC so I can't check where it is for sure.

sporr,

I just played a game here at work to my surprise there it was! the pitchout option.

I have no foreign substances in my system, really!

Now you can get frustrated by the rare instances where you pitchout and the runner still steals 2nd.

If it is rare that is ok with me, it happens. Unless I see an E - E guy steal one on me!

Thanks again,

Todd

That happened once, though I have to admit the pitcher was absolutely wretched at holding runners.

Edit: This happened even with Ivan Rodriguez's gun behind the plate.
