Ah, yeah, I have that and think it's a pretty excellent sketch. Although the lazy in me would like to just deal with Game Options => Financial Coefficient.

This is a great spreadsheet.

Download it and enter the number under result into the financial coeffiecent.

The first couple of years is .002.

It works beautifully. When you go to the rules tab in the league setup, you will see that all the financials are perfectly in sync.

This is a great thread, however, what about fielding?

In 1901 all teams fielding average ranged between .926-.954, however, with OOTP 2006 1901 simmed average is .983. Because of this, there are more earned runs in the OOTP league affecting ERA.

See comparison:

1901 Historical 1901 Simmed
Runs: 11,068 10,288
Earned Runs: 7,569 9,147
ERA: 3.49 4.12
Errors: 5,307 1,563

What are your recommendations to correct this glaring difference? I have thought about modifying fielding ratings of all players, but I prefer an easier solution.

1) when I change Milwaukee to St. Louis in 1902, I change the Franchise ID to "BAL" correct? because they eventually become the Orioles

Edit: I had 2 questions but I answered one myself

No, you change them to SLA. They change to BAL in 1954 when they move to Baltimore.

Ok, I've reached the expansion era of the early 60s. I can't edit the league structure until the pre-season begins, but historical rookies are loaded at the beginning of pre-season. So after I add the expansion teams, their rosters are empty. How can I get the expansion rosters populated with the real players when the game brings them in before you can edit the league structure?

I just came to ask the same exact question.

This quickstart crashes on me around August when I run it. Anyone else have trouble or is this just part of the usual OOTP2006 crash bug?

Not every player that played for the expansion teams appears on the roster. You'd have to manually change all the guys to that team. The players that would appear would be the rookies of that year. That is one of the problems with OOTP expansion in that there is no draft. There is a way to create new teams, but to get players on that team - it is a long and arduous process.

This is a HUGE issue . . . does anyone have any ideas? For example, Bill Keister (BLA), who once made 97 errors in a season at SS, has played through nine full seasons as an everyday SS in my sim without making more than 12 errors in a season. Historical sims seem pretty much a pointless exercise without making some sort of adjustment here.
