Worst year by a pitcher?
Here's Randy Lerch's 1989 Season with Kansas City/Boston:
2-27, 11.82 ERA, 230IP, 196BB, 2.63 WHIP, OAVG .400(!!) He won 2 games with a 5 era with the Red Sox and then was signed by the royals and went 0-27 lol. He retired after that year.

wow, he had -178 VORP that year lol
Well, he was on Kansas City, who has been absolutely terrible. They lost 138 games that year. They only had $17 mil payroll that year(but made $12 mil profit). They had 14 straight years of 100+ losses. They're overall record in the league: 1738-3941. They're 1989 Rotation: 1. Jose Guzman 13-25, 4.22 ERA 24.3 VORP 2. Danny Jackson 8-30, 4.76 ERA 3.9 VORP 3. Rob Dressler 0-22, 9.29 ERA -93 VORP 4. Ed Wojna 3-34, 7.69 ERA -99 VORP 5. Randy Lerch 0-27, 11.82 ERA -177 VORP I think for some reason players werent getting imported and put onto the team, so they didnt have as many players as other teams. I always kept getting errors that they only had 10 players on the roster.
