Hometown/Birthplace Issue & Nationality Menu Suggestion

Posting this agian since this is probably a better forum for it. There are a couple threads open on this in the other areas. Here is one:

Player Hometown

Anyway the issue is there is no way to select which particular city a player is from when there are multiple towns of the same name in different states. Example in the thread was Springfield IL and MA. But there are many others. Not a huge issue but an annoyance. And since it can effect where a player may choose to sign a contract it should be fixed. Since there is a drop down menu for changing the cities teams are located in this should exist in the player editor as well.

Another minor annoyance is selecting the nationality. I find the the nation i need the most (American) is way at the bottom of the list and I have to waste time scrolling all the way to the bottom either:

A) put "American" at the top of the list (since its probably going to be the most used in most situations anyway)

B) put an arrow bar on the side of the menu so I can drag down the the bottom of the list immediatily with the mouse. This should be on all the drop down menus anyway IMO.

C) make it so that the "home nation" of the active league your in is always at the top of the list. That would satisfy those who might say well I am playing my league in Sweden and its just as annoying to scroll all the way down there for 90% of my players! See everyone wins!

I found it a bit odd to see a list that appeared to be in alphabetical order yet have American down at the bottom. What I think the game does it list the nationalities in alphabetical order according to the Nation's name, as in USA which explains why American is at the end of the list despite it starting with the first letter of the Latin alphabet. That is my recommendation, list the nationalities in order according the nationality and not the nation.

While I do think having the league's host nation at the top of the last would be helpful, I also see it being a hassel, as it would all depend on what league you are looking at and all that jazz. Not to mention it seems to me it would be a bitch to code.

This is better suited to the suggestions folder.

Thread is a very valid idea; let's get it in the proper place.

The menu suggestion yes, but the hometown issue I believe is a bug and should be treated as such. There should be someway to select the proper town when multiple cities exist in the same nation.

There is a bug, TT # 1746, that covers the issue of not being able to select an exact city in the Player Editor. It's still under review.

Aordolin, is this what you are referring to when you say "the hometown/birthplace issue"?

If that's the case, then the above is your TT #, and the rest of the stuff, like Raidergoo suggested, really belongs in Suggestions.

Thanks,

Steve

the suggestion about the order the nations appear in the drop down menu belongs in suggestions yes. the birthplace issue is about not being able to select the exact city of birth and not having the ability to do so. Basically there is no way for you to do this on your own which I believe is a bug or maybe more of an oversight. Since you do have the ability to do so when selecting the exact city for a teams location. All that would be necessary is just adding the same drop down menu that you have in the team options menu in the player editor.

Bingo. TT 1746 is the bug # for the problem you just described, so it's on the list to be looked at!

Thanks very much!

I'm going to move this over to the logged issues thread. Would you like me to make a copy of this thread in Suggestions as well? Or you could just create a new thread over there if you wished.

Steve

Been a while since I brought this up but with Markus working on 1.03 now will this be addressed?

Aordolin,

Unfortunately, it looks like Markus won't be able to get this into the 1.0.3 release. Apparently one of those "harder than it looks" kind of things. It will definitely be addressed in the next version, though.

I'm sorry for the bad news.
