Keyboard still affects OOTP even when it doesn't have the focus
Hi all.
I searched through the list of fixes in the new patch and in these forums, but was not able to find anyone describing this problem; if it's already been described somewhere, I apologize. I play OOTP 2006 on Windows and in windowed mode, with other windows active as well. (I manage individual games, which is an important part of the story.) Sometimes, I use Alt+Tab to switch to another window -- say, to read an email -- then switch back to OOTP. What I discovered was that if I was managing a game, switched to another window, and switched back, the game would sometimes have progressed while the window wasn't focused. After some testing, I figured out the cause of the problem. The Enter key causes the game to simulate the next at-bat. Unfortunately, if the Enter key is pressed, OOTP reacts to it even if the OOTP window doesn't have the focus. That means, if I'm writing an email with an OOTP game "on hold" in the background, every time I hit Enter, another at-bat is simulated. This isn't a big deal; the workaround is to switch to one of the tabs (like "Options & Stats") where Enter doesn't do anything, then switch to another window. Still, low priority though it is, it would be nice for this problem to be resolved. Thanks for hearing me out. Back to my game...

I have had the "enter" key issue on my system.
Dell Laptop, Windows XP, 1 GB ram. If I am playing a game (in either mode) and switch over to AIM or Trillian and send an IM the game advances as if I'd hit enter. Occured pre and post patch. Not sure what other info you are looking for... |
