Scheduler Error in 1.02 when changing number of games.
Ok, I've got Patch 2 and am running a Fictional league with AA, A, and R minors.
All leagues have 16 teams in different configurations. I can post them if necessary, but the error happens at all levels. I started out with 80, 60, 50, and 28 game schedules. 10 years in, I decide to increase my schedules. As soon as the offseason begins in each league, I go into league setup and increase my schedule size. However, when the game automatically creates the schedules next season, it uses the original number of games. I go into edit schedule and click Generate Fictional Schedule and I get an error message stating "Cannot generate schedule for league with inter league option or unbalanced schedule option activated." Now, I'm not really sure why that is the case to begin with, but turning those options off does not solve the problem. I still get the error. The other problem is that it clears the existing schedule and now the game simply will not create a new one. Even if I change the number of games back to the original size. The error still pops up. I have a workaround, but only because I saved my league as a template. I create a new league from the template and export a "standard" schedule and then import it into my broken league. If I didn't have that template, my league would have been toast unless I wanted to manually create the entire schedule. I'm going to try to increase the number of games in my template to what I want and then create a game and see if I can export/import to accomplish what I want. Let me know if you need any more info or saved games/templates on this.

You're right, the game will ignore the changed season length. However, I can generate a new schedule just fine. I suspect I know what you were doing wrong.

Either way, there is a problem with the error message then, because I typed that error message verbatim.

Ok, I just ran a test on 4 leagues with all possible combinations of the Interleague and Balanced schedule options.
Indeed, the only one that would work with the scheduler was with "Use Balanced Schedule" checked and Interleague unchecked. The way the error message is phrased though is somewhat misleading because it is the opposite of what the option really is (unbalanced/balanced). FWIW, that error message is also a "windows" error message. The box is drawn by windows rather than being an OOTP style error box. What I don't get is how the game can create a schedule at league creation with these options activated but not after you change the number of games and have it generate a new one.

The integrated scheduler neither does interleague nor unbalanced; all that the options do at startup is allow the game to look for a fitting custom schedule in the \data\schedules\ folder, but if it can't find one, the game simply creates a balanced, non-interleague schedule.

It is VERY misleading that I can set my league up as I please and have it create a schedule without a problem and not even realize that it is ignoring my setup options. It seems like the schedule generator in past versions was capable of generating Interleague and unbalanced schedules. Didn't it?

We need your brain intact ![]() Sorry about the wording, I'll change it as follows: "Cannot generate schedule for league with interleague play enabled or with unbalanced schedule. Set 'Interleague Play' to Off, and 'Use Balanced Schedule Format' to On in the league settings." Hope that's better. The problem is that our current scheduler cannot schedule interleague or unbalanced schedules. We hope to have this in the next version or probably in a patch. When you start a league that uses a schedule from a file, and the file is made for interleague or unbalanced schedules and matches your settings, then this file will be used and you get a perfect schedule. If you change any league settings later, the file cannot be used again probably. For example if you change the number of games or the league structure. Then the game has to generate an own schedule, and this is not possible (at the moment) with interleague On or with Balanced Games Off. But when you change the number of games back to the old value, or to another value for which you've got a schedule file, then it will create the schedule from file again.
