Injury Proneness in 1.0.2

I have one player (that I know of) in my league that is verrrrrrrrrry susceptible to injury. Check out his injury history. I only found out about this because he's played 20 seasons and is the career triples leader. How does this guy last 20 seasons? Also note that when I went to check his proneness ratings, it turns out he's all 200's (inluding one 202... how did that happen?) but 24 for overall. Low overall = high components??

"Overall Proneness" isn't a composite of the others, and it's probably a bit of a misnomer. Basically it's used for all non-[arm, leg, back] injuries, namely the following ones (in the default file, anyway):

Blurred Vision
Bruised Cheekbone
Bruised Jaw
Cold
Concussion
Flu
Fractured Cheekbone
Fractured Eye Socket
Fractured Jaw
Fractured Nose
Fractured Skull
Migraine
Scratched Cornea
Swollen Ear
Swollen Eye
Teeth Knocked Out

I can't reproduce the 202 value in the editor, BTW...maybe OOTP changes proneness ratings in the course of the game and failed to obey its own limit there, but I'm just speculating.

With those injuries, it should probably just be called "head".

Zeyes, that explains the "overall" thing, then, thanks!

Nutlaw, good idea!

I'm pretty sure that this is working as designed. Basically, you have Mr. Glass. He's an outlier, but not beyond the pale.

He just has not gotten the hint yet that it is best to retire.

I can understand that, though I guess the results of having 200's lie way outside the realm of reality, right? If that is how the highest ratings are supposed to work, should they still be achievable by default? I mean, in most universes (in the traditional sense), this guy would be dead by now.

At any rate, perhaps he knew best. I mean, after all, I guess this is what it takes to become the all-time triples leader!

Maybe he's so brittle he's allowed to motor around the bases in a high-powered wheelchair, explaining all those triples...

Is it wrong of me that I find this thread amusing?

Still, not sure if there's anything to report as a bug per se. I will ask Markus to change that "Overall" to "Other," since it think it will ultimately hold other values that "Head" might not cover very well.

The main issue to me is that the results of having these 200's are very unrealistic. So, either 200's should not be randomly achievable (only achievable by editing them), or the effect (number of injuries) of such high proneness numbers should be toned down.

Actually, there is another bug here. This guy ended up with a 23 year career. Yet his stats did not really start to drop off until two years before the end. How is that possible with so many injuries? It seems to me like the accumulation of injuries should have a greater effect on a player's abilities. Here's a screenshot of his career stats:

Oops, one more minor thing. Was that 202 rating supposed to happen? I thought they were supposed to cap at 200. Could an out-of-bounds rating cause a problem?

OakDragon, why can't you just submit bugs like, "You misspelled "league" on the Index report"?

:P

Your sticking-out-tongue smiley didn't make an icon. The "p" needs to be lower case. Should I start a new thread about this? This needs to be fixed in the next version!

OK, I logged this as TT # 2336.

We'll see what Markus has to say about it!

Thanks,

Steve
