minor league teams with small or no rosters

About 4 years into a league in which i am commissioner and former Detroit tigers manager i started getting error messages with 2 minor league teams. One team has 0 players on its roster and the other has 6 - I have not tried going in as acting manager yet to see if i can fix it. Have been playing awhile and never seen this before.
It is 1966 - I started with 1962 and inaugral draft so that it would be real players but not same teams. Using Lahmans. The error was whichever team has illegal roster. Am saving season this time so you can ask me to do whatever with it. It is April 1 - opening day is April 8th. So it is in spring Season - perhaps the ML teams have not dumped players to the minors yet? - will check - Chesapeake is starting their season with 0 players - from Detroit's farm - is the Rookie league. The other team Spokane is from Cincinnati's short season a league. Not sure what else to tell you except that if i try playing day to day it is Chesapeake that has the error and if i try playing by the week it is spokane that has the error.

PS - going in as acting manager and having AI setup teams had no effect, nor did going in as Detroit manager - so it didnt matter what manager i was.

Are you importing historical rookies to populate your minor leagues? If not you can probably work around this by going to the league setup screen, pick either your Rookie or SSA league, selecting other functions and then fill teams with fictional players. I don't think it overwrites players already there, I think it just populates the team with a minimum number of players.

I am importing historical rookies into a draft - they do not go to their original teams. yes it did work - filling the team with fictional players but that is not really an acceptable solution in my eyes.

I know, it's certainly a pain sometimes to keep it all together.

Illegal number of players

Newest 1.02 patch released today. Started historical league in 1962, everything goes great. Start the 1963 season 22 games into spring traing and I just got the dreaded illegal number of players. It is the St Louis Cardinals and it says I have an illegal number of players on the active roster (10). This is spring training and everyteam has more than 25 players on their roster and I can't figure out where the problem is

I went to St. Louis's active roster and there are 40 players on the active roster.
All the lineups are correct. every position is filled. All the pitchers are there. I just spent alot of time re doing the stadiums and logos and i can't get to the next day

I can't play this league anymore, it won't let me get to the next day.

Please help me asap

That seems to be a big problem with this game and after the last patch the problem gets worse, I had an illegal amount of players on the active roster and no matter what I did that problem would not go away and that was the end of my league. I am just going back to having a reserve roster as minors just don't work in historical leagues and when they do they just take too much time and effort to work and I do not want to keep filling the minors with fictional players as this defeats the purpost of playing with only real major league players. Please bring back the ghost players which would solve the problem

While not an acceptable solution, the "fill league with players" option works better for historical purposes if you set the Player Creation modifiers very low (such as .1). This creates very bad players that will never see the Majors, therefore keeping your major leagues safe.

I have a similar post - with more answers: minor leage teams with small or no rosters you may want to check it out - the only true solution is to fill the minor league teams with fictional players and set the playyer create to .1 so that they are so bad they never make the majors. o - just noticed your last post - with my problem they had exactly the number on the roster that it said they did 0 in one case and 10 in the other. hmmm.

Still the Illegal Number of Players Problem

//begin vent//

Why can't this bug be squashed? I'm using 1.02 final, I have a fictional league with 5 levels of minors, and one of the rookie teams has only 7 players, all of them pitchers.

Yes, I know all of the workarounds, I've been doing them since May 31, but it's really irritating to continue to have to artificially fill an AI's rosters.

I guess my reaction to the whole thing has become, "Yes, I now know that Scranton has an illegal number of players. Now, go tell the GM of the Washington Nationals that he needs to fill his stupid rookie team and quit bothering me." Why do I, the GM of one organization, have to handle a problem with another organization? Isn't that what the computer GM of that organization is supposed to do? Particularly since there are a couple of hundred available free agents, that team has plenty of cash, and the other four levels of the organization's minors have full rosters. There has to be some way for it to fill a legal line-up.

//end vent//

Now I'm going to go click the "Fill this team with fictional players" button, and resume play.

If this is with the most current patch, please zip and send the .dat files of your league stopped at the point where you're getting the "illegal number of players" message, and send them to markus.heinsohn@sigames.com with the subject "TT 2366"

Thanks and I really hope we can get this resolved for you soon!

This also just happened to me, first time actually.

Newest patch, new league. I'm running a historical league, so no minors (of course).

Philly has an illegal number of players.

Odd, since they have 21 on their team.

Never had this problem before the final patch.

I'm getting this error right as the regular season begins, not because teams have too few players, but because they have too many -- the AI doesn't trim computer-controlled rosters down to 25 players.

I searched the boards and can't find anybody else who gets this error under the same circumstances as I do. Can somebody tell me if this is related to the issue of too few players that everyone else seems to be experiencing? This happens with a 3rd-party roster set (could that be the problem?) and the latest patch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
