Losing playoffs when changing league structure

Okay, I'm going to list this as a bug, but I'm prepared to be corrected.

I have a build 12270 universe that I created with two subleagues of three divisions each. With wildcards selected, this gave me three rounds of playoffs.

Fifteen days into the game (January 15th of the first year) I reorganized into one subleague of four divisions, trying to prevent sub.500 teams from making the playoffs. I couldn't delete the empty subleague, so I deleted its name and left it.

The problem is that I now have only one round of playoffs, so not even all of my divisional winners will get in. That doesn't change when I enable/disable wildcards. I've tried disabling and re-enabling playoffs in the hope that it will reset, but it hasn't.

I will try two things later tonight, then report back: Disabling interleague play, then generating a new schedule; and switching two of the divisions back into the empty subleague, re-enabling balanced schedule interleague play, then generating a new schedule. If anyone has additional ideas to try, I'd be happy to hear them. Failing those attempts, this would seem to be a bug.

Please do report back and let us know what happens. Hopefully you will be able to correct the problem, but if not please keep the league file so we can take a look. Thanks.

Sorry, I'm not able to zip anything, so unless there's another way to send a file, we're out of luck.

The first thing I tried (disabling interleague and generating a new schedule) didn't work. Moving half of the divisions back to the empty subleague did work… sort of. The three tiers of playoffs reappeared instantly (with the same number of games per round as I'd previously specified), but now there's a scheduling problem.

My first try to generate a new schedule, using the 'edit schedule' screen, resulted in an error message telling me that it wasn't possible. When I tried again on the 'edit league structure' page, it did work, but the schedule generated has no interleague play.

I believe this is a known bug, so I'm pretty resigned to having to create my own schedule, but I'm not looking forward to it.

Curtis,

Let me doublecheck today and make sure this is indeed logged as a bug for 2007. I'll let you know.

Curtis, yes this has been logged as a bug for 2007. It is TT#38. I'm moving this thread to logged issues. Thanks for the info.

I have a logged issue! How cool is that? I feel like I'm wearing my big boy pants today.

Thanks, Goodsox.
